Job Description : Assistant Management AccountantOur Accounts Team are looking for a dedicated, professional and hard-working individual to join our committed and collaborative team as an Assistant Accountant. This amongst other things will provide career development, and for the right person, there will be opportunities to progress in the future either within the team or in the wider finance department.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and associated reporting.Engaging with heads of departments across the business to ensure correct monitoring of costs and conversions.Identification of areas where value can be added including revenue and cost opportunities.A key member of the finance team with the ability to lead meetings and influence non finance managers in an effective manner.Processing of accounting journals, ensure all transactions are posted into the Group’s accounting system with speed and accuracy, paying particular attention to ensuring sufficient supporting evidence is maintained.Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheets and accounts using the Group’s reconciliation systemAssist in managing the unreconciled differences, helping to resolve these in a timely manner.Assist with the quarterly VAT returns, ensuring the VAT returns are submitted by HMRC deadlines.Assist with the annual and interim external audits, providing the Auditor with supporting documentation in-line with agreed upon timelines.Ensuring that all sales are recorded accurately, Cash/Bank Control –Ensuring that all cash is managed and reconciled correctly and that there is a system in place for controlling the handling of cash throughout the property.Ensuring that the system of recording, invoicing and management of payments is done in an effective manner and that each company’s debtors are tracked and monitored weekly.· Continually appraise working practices and aim for improvements by increasing efficiency and effectiveness with no detrimental effect to accuracy and timeliness of reporting.· You will be responsible for the day-to-day financial accounting, the timely production of month end reporting and maintaining the balance sheet within a controlled environment.· Support all stakeholders with information requests and where required to challenge assumptions and provide alternatives.Pro-active contribution to the overall financial management of the property with a particular emphasis on the maintenance of the control environment and cost management.Provide guidance and training to managers and staff on finance procedures including cash, purchasing, debt collection etc. to champion financial controls across the property.Ensure compliance with all departmental/company procedures and highlighting key performance indicators.The successful candidate will need knowledge and experience in the following areas: Be proficient in the use of all supporting ICT systems and applicationsDeal with customers with confidence, in writing and verbally, by telephone or face to face.Able to start at short noticeExperience in Accounting (including Accounts Payable, Receivable Cash Management)Knowledge of accounts preparation including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepaymentsAbility to work to deadlinesExperience of preparing financial statements and assisting in constructing budgets and forecastsAttentive to detail and accuracy in all work areasAbility to communicate to a range of employees, external agencies and deadlinesWhat skills do you need to be successful?· Administration experience within the property sector· Able to prioritise workload and work to short deadlines· Understand and appreciate the importance of using discretion· Team player who deals effectively with colleagues and clients· Be organised and disciplined ensuring systems are updated· Good Administrator with Microsoft Office skills· Flexible, responsible, and dependable· Effective communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral)· A positive attitude, who loves working as part of a team· Qualified by experience within an accountancy practice· Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to build trust and rapport quickly· Experience of dealing with small business owners· Great organisation skills, including the ability to prioritise a changing workload· A passion and desire to make a differenceWhy join Yoursupportline?Yoursupportline is a fast growing, bespoke business to business financial services group.
