We are looking for friendly, caring and enthusiastic people to join our team of Learning Support Assistants in our exciting new Learning to Live project in Windermere, Cumbria.

Learning to Live combines learning and a place to live and provides an alternative to residential college. We currently support 6 young adults aged 18yrs – 24yrs who have enrolled on the 3-year programme.

We focus on essential skills needed for living independently including: domestic skills; health and hygiene; knowing your local area. We also support our Learners to focus learning on exploring the world of work through supported Internships and working towards accredited Open Awards. The vision is to empower our Learners to move onto more independent living and better employment opportunities.

Learning Support Assistant – The Role:

The role of a Learning Support Assistant is varied, rewarding and you must be passionate, committed, creative and have strong values about employment/life opportunities for young people diagnosed with Learning Difficulties and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. We are looking for individuals who are adaptable and have experience in engaging young people in a variety of settings.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you are in regular contact with both the learner and their families/carers and often act as a mentor for the young people you support. Learning Support Assistant’s support learners to develop confidence and social skills through a variety of activities such as cooking, travel training, accessing community facilities and supporting on work placements. Learning Support Assistant’s may be required to undertake personal care duties, enabling the learner at all times.

Working hours will include days, sleep in shifts and weekends.

You do not need to be experienced, but it is essential that you share our values. You must have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of people with a learning disability. We will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
