Role Summary:
We’re seeking an accomplished App Developer with industry experience to help us push our new mobile Customer App beyond its MVP by working to the highest professional standards to ensure that the app provides an engaging experience for our customers and promotes the continued success of the company.
This person will work on the technical design and delivery of the app in the future. They will also develop new features for the app keeping pace with those features being developed on the website, ensuring that it continues to meet customer expectations for speed, functionality, compatibility, and ease of use.
The role is an integral part of the cross-discipline Web and App Team and will work closely with non-technical staff to ensure the functionality and performance of our web applications meet the commercial requirements of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate business requirements into technical functional requirements/user stories with the team in backlog refinement sessions
Support the Product Owner in meeting business goals, analytics and SEO
Design scalable and extensible solutions which are easy to test, debug and maintain
Work closely with the scrum team members responsible for testing to guarantee suitable test coverage and identify defects, performance bottlenecks or technical debt
Work with the wider team to help design and give feedback on the APIs used to drive the Apps integration with our in-house systems.
Maintain the performance and responsiveness of the app and identify opportunities to improve processes and re-factor
Participate in and sometimes lead sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups and sprint retrospectives, striving to continuously improve the team velocity, its processes and engineering practices
Identify opportunities for future development, conduct research into products and technologies that will enhance the function of the app and pursue opportunities for technical improvement
Own and respond to any defects in the Customer App needing support
Own and future releases of the Customer App
Act as an ambassador for our B Corp values: make all decisions with our social and environmental impact in mind and look for opportunities, no matter how small, to use our business as a force for good.
Skills and Experience:
Essential
Extensive experience of developing secure, scalable apps in a fun, fast-paced Agile, team environment
Expert in developing apps in React Native with Redux
Excellent knowledge of Typescript, JavaScript
Experience in developing mobile apps targeting iOS and Android devices and releasing these to app stores
Experience in building monitoring into apps using Google analytics
Excellent knowledge of application architecture, data modelling and SOLID object-orientated design
Strong knowledge of service-based enterprise architecture design and best practice, and a full understanding of RESTful principles and consuming REST APIs
Excellent business analysis and requirements gathering skills, an ability to translate face to face meetings into user stories or technical specs
Excellent written & verbal communication skills. The ability to be clear, concise and accurate. Capable of interacting with technical and non-technical audiences ranging from director to developer
Desirable:
Business process knowledge gained from ecommerce / retail experience
Experience of continuous integration pipeline and unit test automation using frameworks such as Jest
Cloud experience (Azure / AWS / GCP)
Proven academic background in computer science
Personal Attributes:
A great desire to develop personal skills through knowledge of new development methodologies, techniques and industry developments
Good communication skills with high standards in both written and oral communication – ability to build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical team members
Strong affinity for the Scrum values and thrives working in a team environment, putting the team and the team goals first

Excellent problem-solving skills and the initiative to find innovative technical solutions

What we offer?
This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week. The role will be based from Wimbledon office with occasional travel to our other sites across the UK when needed.
