Your contribution to something big
Working within one of our engineering teams, you will be responsible for building mission critical features and functionality into our premium finance platform as we enter the next phase of our journey, which will see us onboarding larger clients and volumes. You will use your knowledge and experience to deliver projects on time and set a high standard within the team, familiarising yourself with the requirements of developing software in a regulated industry.
What you’ll be doing
Follow Jira tickets to produce clean, efficient code that is easy to understand and well-documented, using the team’s style guidelines
Provide accurate estimates for your work
Observe the principles of security by design
Ensure code is accompanied by comprehensive unit and integration tests, covering both happy and unhappy paths
Participate in code reviews, giving and receiving constructive feedback
Setting up development flows and tools as required (e.g., containerisation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines)
Help to shape and implement processes where they do not yet exist
Proactively participate in the support process, picking up complex tickets for which a playbook does not exist
Proactively work to unblock other engineers
Mentor junior engineers
Learn new skills and technologies as required by the role
Our ideal teammate has experience with/knowledge in
Prior experience in similar roles, leading large projects
Clear, empathetic communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Development tools such as Git, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, and IDEs
Advanced understanding of the software development lifecycle
Strong problem-solving skills
Experience with most of the following:
RESTful APIs
Databases (relational and non-relational)
Pub/Sub messaging
Testing with mocks
Microservices
Containerisation & Kubernetes
APM tools
Azure, AWS, or GCP
Agile practices and methodology
Twelve-Factor App methodology
Background in premium finance, loans, credit, payments, or insurance would be beneficial, but not essential
