About the Opportunity
Higher education institutions are dependent on intelligent insights to help them deliver the best possible student outcomes. With the uncertainty of COVID-19, it is even more important that higher ed institutions are able to quickly turn new data into actionable business insights for academic and financial success. Ellucian is seeking a full stack developer within the Insights and ePrint team who will analyze business requirements and transform them into innovative UI solutions that effectively enhance the end user experience with access to data, visualizations and configurations. Our reporting and analytics products use various technologies including Postgres, AWS, NodeJS, Angular and React to form both our front-end user experiences and associated back-end processes. Potential candidates should possess a fundamental understanding of and have experience with full stack application development.
Where you will make an impact
You will participate in the design, development, testing and delivery of new solutions for the next generation of Higher Education Reporting and Analytics products as a member of a creative, agile development team building solutions that exceed customer expectations
Demonstrate ownership from specification review to final testing
Incorporate industry best practices and influence team standards to enhance maintainability and extensibility
Actively participate in agile development ceremonies (daily stand ups, refinement, sprint reviews, planning, retrospectives)
Assist peers in debugging and troubleshooting issues
Engage in continuous learning and adoption of new concepts, technologies and functionality
Collaborate with Business Analysts, UX Designers, Developers, and Architects to determine the optimum user interface design, workflow, and functionality
What You Will Bring
2 – 4 years of Experience developing applications using React, Node.js
Hands-on experience with markup/styling languages – HTML, CSS
Experience developing Restful Microservices using Node.js
Experience developing serverless APIs using AWS services: Lambda, API Gateway, Dynamo DB
Experience in creating Docker images and Docker Containers
Working knowledge of GIT and collaborative development practices (e.g., pull requests, feature branches)
Hands-on experience with cloud tools, services, and technologies (preferably AWS)
Proficiency in creating Jenkins pipeline and automated CI/CD processes
Ability to write and debug SQL queries
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with experience of working under pressure with precision and accuracy
Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience
Experience with full-stack architecture and development
Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases
Experience on scripting languages, preferably Perl
Experience working in a Linux environment
Experience with AWS services likes EC2, S3, Auto Scaling, EBS, ELB, IAM, VPC and Cloud Watch
Experience using Material-UI component library will be an added advantage
Higher education domain knowledge
