What is the role?

You will be working within Gemba’s Data & Analytics team. You will be responsible for applying your technical and analytical skills to work with a variety of data sources to streamline processes, build robust CICD pipelines, and implement best practice DevOps that drive commercial outcomes for our clients.

You will be required to deliver high quality client deliverables through efficient and effective practices. This includes extracting and storing data, building scalable data pipelines and warehouses, and developing technical solutions. You will be proactively looking for potential insights, then preparing and communicating these reports to our client in an impactful manner. This is a great opportunity to take on responsibility for driving organisational change and developing strong relationships with senior level stakeholders.

You will also be responsible for managing the internal Gemba Data Platform, including maintaining existing pipelines, enhancing the platform, and creating new data connections. You will use the platform to leverage first and third-party data to develop Gemba Data Products.

Who are we looking for?

This key role requires a Data Engineer with 3+ years of experience (preferably with experience in the sports industry) with a focus on using DevOps and CICD pipelines to deliver internal and client solutions. Possessing technical skills in areas such as Python, SQL, DevOps, as well as experience with cloud technologies such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Azure is mandatory.

A good understanding of general business principles, with relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or engineering preferred.

Additional skills and experience required include:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced data manipulation and processing skills
DevOps and orchestration tooling such as dbt and/or Airflow
Implementing Infrastructure as Code via Terraform (highly desirable)
Strong understanding of database architecture
Strong understanding of data quality control measures
The ability to understand and interpret business/marketing information and research
Being confident in dealing with clients including presenting report findings to executive level
Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver key insights
Qualitative research capabilities are an advantage
