We are seeking an experienced Data Science Engineer to join the Sensata’s Industrial IoT development group. You are someone with demonstrated success and industry experience as Data Scientist to analyse large amounts of raw information to find patterns that will help to provide business value.
Key Responsibilities include:
Undertaking data collection, preprocessing and analysis.
Building models to address business problems.
Presenting information using data visualization techniques.
Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes.
Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.
Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns.
Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.
Combine models through ensemble modeling.
Present information using data visualization techniques.
Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges.
Mine and analyze data from databases to drive optimization and improvement.
Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize business outcomes.
Develop testing framework and test model quality.
Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
Involve in project planning & decisions.
Managing periodic reporting on progress to the management and to the customer.
Contribute towards excellence in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Work closely with Project Manager and other team members.
Position Requirements include:
Should be highly analytical with a knack for analysis, math and statistics.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data.
Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst.
Experience in data mining.
Understanding of machine-learning and operations research.
Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
Experience querying databases.
Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks.
Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra).
Must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations.
Adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.
Experience working with and creating data architectures.
Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, properties of distributions, etc.
Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics (regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Crimson Hexagon etc.
Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL etc.
Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Periscope, Business Objects, D3, ggplot etc.
A drive to learn and master modern technologies and techniques.
Familiar with Agile Methodology.
Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong Analytical skills and Problem-Solving capabilities.
Should take ownership of deliverables and drive independently.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent required.
Graduate degree in Data Science or another quantitative field is preferred.
4+ years of experience as Data Science Engineer.
7+ years of experience in software development or experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models.
