Job Description:
The new team member will collaborate closely with the Vortex team to deliver on prioritized stories focusing on expanding integration with other applications in the workflow.
Collaborate daily with a team of Software Developers, Product Manager, Product Specialists, and Agile Coach to build and support applications.
Works with team and Product Manager to manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
Interact directly with business customers to gather and understand requirements and how they translate in application features
Develop applications and services using the latest tools and technologies
Deploy applications across all environments in collaboration with development team, release team and Product Management.
Perform unit and integration testing
Conduct functional and non-functional testing
Troubleshoot and debug applications
Evaluate existing applications to refactor, update and add new features
Develop any technical documentation needed to accurately represent application design and code.
Develop effective relationships & communicate within team, across teams, with Product Management, and with customers to increase the overall quality of products owned by the team and teams within the domain platform.
Identify opportunities to develop new and better solutions. Provide guidance for technical design and architecture decisions within the team and across the domain platform.
Skills Required :
Excellent communication skills.
Strong collaboration and teaming, self-starter and a willingness to express and challenge ideas is important.
Ownership of filling skill gaps by incorporating self-learning.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s or equivalent experience
Nice to Have:
While having experience in the tech stack is important, if the candidate has experience in a variety of areas and are self-starters, take ownership of their own learning, self-motivated and highly communicative, but only have experience with a portion of the tech, they will be considered for the role. They need to be willing to allocate some of their time getting up to speed.

Associated Projects: Activity Plan is an application within Bayer Crop Science’s suite of microservices that serve our internal employees, specifically Breeders and Scientist. Activity Plan provides a framework by which our users define their protocol for various activities including data collection, plant samples, and chemical sprays to test a hypothesis or maintain internal and external compliance standards. There are several capabilities that are required to meet our objectives in 2022. Focus areas include: 1) Enriching activity location assignment functionality to improve downstream activity management and collect usability 2) Building logic into manual activity planning process to allow for more automated processes allowing planners to be more efficient with their time.
Team Dynamic/Culture: Vortex is a team of five developers (including this opening). The team works closely with their Product Manager, Product Special and Product Designer. They are highly collaborative working together to come up quality solutions that follow best practices and allow for a maintainable product. The team primarily works independently, but pair and mob as needed for learning or solving complex problems. There are various levels of expertise on the team. Adding a developer with architecture and DevOps experience would help the team deliver high quality technical solutions that are scalable to support a high volume performance workload.
