Job Description : Financial Controller, Risk and Review

The Role
As Financial Controller you will manage and develop a team of 3 qualified accountants and be the lead on all technical accounting matters within Stores Reporting. In addition, you will:
Review workbooks and financial statements prepared by the Statutory Accounts Team.
Be responsible for documenting, reviewing and maintaining appropriate accounting policies and ensuring consistency with Group’s policies.
Be responsible for managing and preparing technical communications for the Store Reporting department.
Ensure any changes to the accounting standards (FRS 102) are implemented in the work books and relevant training delivered to the teams
Assist in managing communications with external auditors on financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures and issues.
Pro–actively identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement and create a thinking environment.
Identify and highlight areas of risk in the P&L and Balance Sheet and work with relevant departments to find solutions to avoid reoccurrence in future and ensure statutory accounts are correct. This includes but isn’t limited to expense claims and distributions.
The Experience
It will be essential that you will have the following experience and skills:
ACA/ACCA qualified
Previous audit experience with a large accountancy firm
Excellent knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102
Strong knowledge of technical accounting as well as understanding of practical application of accounting requirements.
