POSITION OVERVIEW

Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding region. The Protective Services section is embedded within the Infrastructure and Health Support Services Division. Protective Services’ mission is to provide the necessary climate and mechanisms that will enable staff, patients and visitors at Canberra Health Services’ facilities to go about their daily activities without fear or intimidation by preventing crime and protecting persons and property.

As a Security Coordinator you will be responsible for leading our front of house security services. The successful applicant will build strong relationships with our partners at Digital Solutions, Staff Development Unit and the MOSCETU area. Further, you will also support our business by undertaking administrative functions in relation to rostering, invoicing and service improvements.

The Security Coordinator is expected to work collaboratively with business units across the Directorate and be supportive and flexible in their approach to changing priorities.
DUTIES

Under limited direction of the Director, you will ensure our security operations, processes and infrastructure are supported. You will:
1. Process electronic access requests and mechanical key requests.
2. Undertake rostering of CHS security members including updating the electronic time in attendance system weekly.
3. Oversee and maintain the administration of access control systems and key management systems according to approved arrangements.
4. Oversee the repair and maintenance of security infrastructure including engaging security vendors and confirming works completed.
5. Undertake administrative tasks such as producing reports and processing invoices.
6. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
The successful applicant must (mandatory):
Possess a Certificate II in Security Operations and an ACT Security Licence
Possess an unencumbered driver’s licence (or equivalent)
Be prepared to wear a uniform
Be able to complete a continuous 500m run compromising of a series of five 100m laps, with stair ascent and descent of 10 steps at the end of each lap, and a 20m dummy drag, in under 5 minutes on an annual basis
Be willing to be, and remain, vaccinated against vaccine-preventable diseases during their employment
Attain a Certificate IV in Security Risk Management within the first 12 months of employment.
The successful applicant should (desirable):
Possess a sound understanding of providing security services in a healthcare setting.
Have an understanding of how the National Standards and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
Fulfil the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.
Note: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.

Prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening, and vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases.

WHAT YOU REQUIRE

These are the key selection criteria for how you will be assessed in conjunction with your resumé and experience:
1. Demonstrated experience in dealing with a diverse range of people and situations requiring problem solving and relationship management.
2. Demonstrated ability to use electronic ICT equipment which include electronic access control, camera and alarm systems.
3. Demonstrated ability to use workplace communication strategies and write routine workplace materials.
4. Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work, Health and Safety (WHS) and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of Reliable, Progressive, Respectful, and Kind.
