POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides administration, deployment, configuration, and support for the Air Products Server Infrastructure, which is distributed across the globe, both in our regional Hubs and in our AWS Cloud instances.
The primarily focus will be the support of the Server infrastructure and its components that support the Air Products enterprise regionally and globally in support of the applications used in the Middle East, India, and Europe business regions along with enterprise applications such as SAP.
This role will also involve hands-on technical project work which will require close collaboration with the infrastructure operations teams in other regions and the Engineering teams in America. This role will require a level of flexible working to cover UK, European and US working hours.
The role will look to broaden the candidate’s skillset to support other IT infrastructure services where appropriate
PRINCIPAL Accountabilities
Provide support for the Air Products computing platforms, infrastructure hardware/software, services, processes to ensure that they meet published SLA’s
Meet with and work with Server operations teams in Asia and the America regions as needed to support Air Products business needs.
Contribute to AWS code optimization.
Participate in Global IT projects to create/maintain Server infrastructures as required by business and IT needs.
Understand, adhere to, execute, and adopted ITIL practices for Change, Incident, Problem and Release Management
Provide root cause analysis for outages when appropriate.
Support security patching, releases and Upgrades of the server infrastructure which will require a level of working over weekends.
Engage support providers (E.g.: Microsoft, AWS, VMWare, etc.) as appropriate to resolve issues and ensure continuous availability to AP business processes, connectivity, communications, and services.
Participation in scheduled Disaster Recovery exercises as needed.
Provide technical subject matter expertise to project teams and support teams as needed.
Provide 7×24 level 2-3 global support for AP computing platforms, infrastructure hardware/software, services, processes, and offerings that are supported by Information Technology (IT) by participating in an on-call Rota.
Be prepared to work European hours as required
Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering, in design, integration, testing and landing of new and enhanced information systems, services and offerings
Author, review, and maintain documentation required for knowledge transfer and training to successfully land new solutions into the support organization
Develop and implement technical solutions that meet operational improvement needs.
The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with management and troubleshooting on the following systems.
Core Skills
External Cloud hosting Experience – preferably AWS
Windows Server Operating systems in-depth knowledge up to windows 2019
VMWare ESXi Administration and Support.
Server Hardware knowledge – Troubleshooting and Maintenance with a focus on Cisco products (CISCO)
General Networking Knowledge – TCPIP/DNS ,Ports and Protocols, Security
A good knowledge in several of the following areas will be an advantage
Pure Storage or other related storage systems and technologies
Windows Cluster Experience
Terraform Coding
Azure DevOps
Backup /Restore using COMMVAULT
Windows Active Directory
ServiceNow Experience
PowerShell, Windows command line programming
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science, specialized training, certification, or equivalent work experience.
Approximately 5+ years of experience within one or more areas within Information Technology (IT) or comparable organization, preferably at least 3 years spent working directly with Server and Cloud technologies
Strong analytical along with logical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential across multiple services and technologies.
Candidate must possess strong verbal and written communications skills to effectively communicate technology changes to clients inside and outside of IT
General understanding of Project Management methodology
General understanding of Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and processes (ITIL)
Ability to assess and prioritize competing issues and opportunities
Ability to anticipate potential problems and develop solutions needed to resolve them
Ability to effectively work independently and collaboratively across global, cross organizational team environments and participate in virtual projects, work requests or activities
Able to prioritize and meet milestones when working on multiple projects simultaneously
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Strong ability to work with strategic vendors, outside service/support providers and other third-party suppliers
