Job Description : Software Engineer – Android
We are looking for an android developer to work on exciting projects. Expedia’s Conversation Platform Technology team is responsible for building accelerators, products, and processes that power the Conversational Platform at Expedia Group. As a skilled Android Engineer, you will collaborate to craft effortless customer and travel agent experiences worldwide in Expedia apps, web sites, support channels, and contact centers. We support over 15 thousand agents and over 100 million customer interactions a year with a global brand portfolio and workforce.
What you’ll do:
Develop clean, modular and reusable code
Implement and enhance a native mobile application for Android
Develop native SDKs
Communicate effectively within a distributed team of developers and quality engineers.
Participate in Application architecture creation.
Participate in the agile development processes SDLC including sprint planning, iterative development, estimations and design sessions
Analyze and improve application performance
Implement world-class UI and UX
Cover code by Unit Tests, E2E tests
Lifecycle events for application/activities
Memory management of application
Produce scalable, flexible, efficient, and supportable solutions using appropriate technologies
You will share domain and industry knowledge between cross-functional teams
Work with the product team to quickly prototype and iterate on new ideas – and you’ll create fast, easy-to-use, and intuitive applications
You will research and recommend frameworks and architectural/code design patterns
You will advise on technical limitations of software design for products and provide alternative solutions
Who you are:
Strong experience in development for Android
Experience with MVVM/MVP etc.
Strong understanding of client-server development in a mobile environment
Experience with version control and bug tracking systems.
Good communication skills and technical English
Good theoretical knowledge of algorithms/data structures/software architecture principles and practices
Excellent problem-solving skills, initiative and intellectual curiosity
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Good understanding of CI/CD Pipeline
Good verbal communication skills
Works well in a small, fast paced, team
Candidates must be highly motivated and self-sufficient, possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills and be able to adapt to new technologies quickly
Persistent and creative at finding solutions to problems on your own; able to use documentation, Google searches, and trial and error to solve problems you have not seen before.
Android Studio, Core Java/Kotlin (preferably kotlin),Android SDK, Algorithms, JSON, Android Application Development Native, UI, UX, Dependency injection (DAGGER)
