THE ROLE
The Organisation & Division
The Property Services Division is an integral part of Macquarie University’s professional services team, with a strong focus on customer service. Its vision is to provide the best possible built environment to support the University’s key mission of learning, teaching and research. The Property Services division encompasses the key functions of Space Planning, Sustainability, Development, Project Management, Asset and Facilities Management, and management of the University’s portfolio of tenanted properties.
The Role
The University is seeking to appoint an Executive Director, Property Services. The Executive Director is responsible for leading, managing and directing the operations, maintenance, and development of the University’s world-class campus, providing a sustainable built environment that meets current and future needs of the organisation.
With a team of four direct reports and working as a key member of the Finance and Resources portfolio, the Executive Director will provide vision, leadership and direction in the development, implementation and delivery of a diverse property development and management services portfolio across the University Group.
Key Accountabilities will include:
Lead, manage, coach and set direction for the Property Services Leadership team
Lead and manage the successful delivery of the University’s Capital Management Plan to meet the University’s strategic objectives and goals
Set direction and oversee the Campus Operations Plan
Provide expert advice, contribute to strategic planning and space initiatives across the University, Macquarie University Hospital and other controlled entities
Lead and oversee the University’s management of its portfolio of tenanted properties
Create and maintain strategic working relationships with internal stakeholders to understand future requirements and improve customer service
Implement monitoring and control systems for the property portfolio and programs to ensure sustainability, safety, quality, and legislative compliance
Develop and maintain links and partnerships with local and state government entities in relation to the campus, its planning and development, as well as the impact of activities in Macquarie Park and beyond
Drive effective contractor and supplier management strategies
The Person
We are seeking a dynamic professional with demonstrable experience in leading a large team in the management of a complex property portfolio. Candidates must have proven experience in developing and implementing successful strategies for complex organisations operating in a highly regulated environment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong experience in developing and managing large budgets, property innovation, stakeholder management and industry compliance.
