You will provide general supervision and technical guidance to the QA Staff in the analysis, design, testing, and deployment of all applications. She/he will be responsible for assuring all products are defect free and compliant with technical specifications. She/he will work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across business.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Provides necessary definition, development, and deployment of the product quality assurance strategy, addressing all phases of product development.
Directly supervises Quality Assurance Team Lead, Quality Assurance Engineers and Testers including the preparation and delivery of staff performance evaluations and career development activities.
Manages department and overall expectations pertaining to setting accurate schedules, costs, and resources.
Ensures delivery against QA department goals and objectives, i.e., meeting commitments and coordinating overall quality assurance schedule.
Maintains product consistency throughout product cycle, to include the design, define and build phases through quality checkpoints and testing.
Develop and manage quality assurance metrics for performance improvement of all teams.
Implements ongoing quality improvement processes working with interdepartmental teams.
Manages a small agile team (up to 8 direct reports).
Influences (potentially) more agile teams but does not lead them directly.
Manages multiple projects
Provides coaching, feedback, developmental opportunities, etc. to directs.
Places emphasis on not only attracting talent but also retaining it
Demonstrates an ability to communicate the technical knowledge through project management/contributions to product strategy.
Provides effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and performance to plan.
Works with Project Managers to develop project schedules and resource allocation models for QA related projects and other activities such as software deployment, customer integration, and professional services validation.
Responsible and Accountable of flagging the timing of interdepartmental deliverables and the quality of their output.
Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of agile testing
7+ year experience in UI and API testing
Proficient in at least one UI test automation tool like Selenium based frameworks or integrated frameworks like Cypress, etc.
Proficient in at least one API test automation utility (Postman, JMeter, SoapUI etc.)
Strong knowledge of functional, system and performance testing (ideally using JMeter)
Good Knowledge of programming languages like Javascript or Java for implementation of automation frameworks and support code
Understanding of Git and the ability to perform version control operations
Ability to write DML and DDL queries and execute them in tools like SQL developer or Dbeaver
Proficiency in Test Management tools like Azure Devops or ALM(QC) including Test Plan creation and execution, testcase definition along with bug creation and lifecycle.

Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
Influences through others; builds direct and “behind the scenes” support for ideas
Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
