Job Description : Financial Controller – Glasgow
Salary £50k to £55k plus excellent benefits
Lusona is working exclusively with one of our clients in the Engineering sector to source suitable applicants for the post of Financial Controller. The client is based in Glasgow, just outside the City Centre and they have sites in Aberdeen and Renfrewshire.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful applicant will be required to engage with the wider business, including business unit managers, project managers and other stakeholders in a partnering role to deliver timely and accurate financial information to aid decision making. This will include the provision of management dashboards, management accounts, cashflow forecasts and estimated project outturns.
The Financial Controller will also be responsible for the day-to-day operational management and development of the finance team.
The key responsibilities will include:
Preparation of the management accounts, including trading adjustments for long term contracts, for the Group and delivering these with agreed deadlines to the Finance Director and wider organisation.
Engagement with Business Unit Managers to evaluate and analyse financial performance extending to profitability and cash flow.
Assisting the Finance Director and Business Unit Managers in preparing financial forecasts including profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheet projections.
Engaging with project managers in preparing and analysing forecast project outturns and escalation of deviations from budget to Business Unit Managers and the Finance Director.
Ensuring timely billing of all customer invoices and ensuring on-time payment from customers.
Managing the finance team covering the following areas – accounts payable, accounts receivable, management accountant and payroll and compliance.
Assisting with the year-end process and queries from external auditors.
Improving the recently implemented ERP system and engagement with this across the Group.
Assisting with the continual improvement of the control and reporting environment across the Group and feeding this into the Business Management System.
The ideal candidate will be a fully Qualified Accountant, with excellent technical and analytical skills and be able to demonstrate they have previously worked to tight reporting deadlines. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to form good working relationships with staff at all levels.
