THE ROLE
Do you love teaching STEM to school aged children but are looking for a change from working in a school? This new role may be perfect for you!
Campus Life has an exciting new position in our Junior Science Academy (JSA) team. JSA provides primary school aged children with the opportunity to explore the world of STEM in a fun and safe environment during the school holidays through our mainstream program as well as our free program for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
We want to expand our offering to deliver programs to schools as well as working with 4th year Education students to upskill them in teaching robotics (particularly in schools located in low SES areas) and identifying other outreach opportunities. This role will be instrumental in building the schools program from scratch, with support and guidance from the JSA and Programs & Partnerships team. It will also work closely with the University’s Widening Participation Unit to provide STEM offerings to children and/or schools in marginalised, under-represented, and/or disadvantaged communities which they might otherwise not have access to.
There is potential for this to be an ongoing position, depending on the success of the first year of establishment.
We are seeking a NESA accredited teacher with extensive experience and interest in STEM who loves sharing your knowledge to people of all ages, including primary school children. In return, we pay above Award plus 10% super, in addition to offering a range of salary packaging options and other benefits (see below).
At Campus Life you will benefit from being part of a dynamic and committed team. You will also positively impact the lives of students, staff and the wider community and effect change across a broad range of programs, initiatives, and ways of working.
ABOUT YOU
You love all things STEM and have a toolkit of strategies that ensure the children you teach are engaged and enthusiastic and developing a ‘thinking scientifically’ mindset. You are comfortable in the school environment and can communicate effectively with Principals and teachers alike but would like to move out of a traditional teaching role. You believe in supporting the professional development of preservice and new graduate teachers, especially in relation to STEM.
You have a solution focused attitude, excellent communication skills and thrive working in a collaborative and creative team. You demonstrate initiative, enjoy taking a project from the idea through to implementation, and are driven to achieve excellence in the workplace. You are committed to equity and inclusion and want to implement programs that make a difference in the lives of young people. You also share our organisational values of Courage, Agility, Rigour, Empowerment and Support (CARES) and commit to these being visible in your actions and words.
In addition, you will meet the following criteria:
Relevant Education degree
Current accreditation status with NESA and a commitment to continuous professional development
Demonstrated interest in STEM
Experience developing, teaching, and evaluating programs for primary school aged children
Demonstrated understanding of child development and appropriate strategies for interacting with children

Demonstrated understanding of the NSW Education Primary Curriculum and the practical application of the syllabuses
Experience managing a budget, and working within an approved strategy
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively and to establish, build and maintain respectful and ethical relationships with staff, children, families, and other key stakeholders
Commitment to the development and implementation of equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives and offerings
Excellent organisational and time management skills with ability to effectively prioritise
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and well-developed computer literacy skills
Other requirements:
Working With Children Check
First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications

Work hours may vary from time to time to accommodate business needs, including attending weekend events
