Lead Cloud Architect – GCP
GSK is currently separating its Consumer Health business unit into a separate entity, becoming legally separate around July 2022.
As such, the new Consumer Health Platform Services team has a vacancy for an experienced Lead Cloud Architect with Google Cloud Platform, that will sit alongside a counterpart for Microsoft Azure. This role reports directly into the Senior Director, Platform Engineering.
In Consumer Health, we are on a Transition and Transformation journey to separate our Applications and Services from our current Data Centre landscape to a multi-cloud model with local infrastructure remaining for Edge/Manufacturing facilities.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent Architectural and operational expertise around IaaS/PaaS/CaaS technologies when deployed in GCP. An in-depth understanding of GCP is mandatory. That understanding will enable the identification, selection, and migration of existing workloads to the appropriate Cloud Solution.
Support models must be designed and in place for both the Public Cloud and Private Cloud offerings. The offerings must be linked to the Service Catalogue for ease of selection and automated deployment.
This role will assist in transforming Consumer Health into a digital industry through the development of our end-to-end Cloud platforms, optimization of legacy footprints, and acceleration of our end-state by leveraging automation.
Partnering with and communicate effectively with IT leaders across the wider CTO Function and delivery teams regarding infrastructure design and DevOps capabilities to ensure that strategic priorities are being met through an effective operating system and processes.
Key responsibilities:
Contribute to direction and objective setting / Enterprise Architecture / Strategy Development / Roadmap development
Taking requirements from Product Management/Owners and translating these Solution Options
Presentation & Recommendation of option that forms the basis of a High Level Design & working with various 3rd parties on corresponding low-level design, implementation and transition into operations.
Risk Management / Mitigation
Financial Planning for current / future financial years
Investment / Programme / Project Prioritisation
Service Transition (into a live environment)
Why you?
3 years+ of experience with Google Cloud Platform design, development, and support of complex solutions within large scale organizations.
BS Technical Degree e.g. Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline. MS Degree preferred.
Understanding of computer system design and development concepts and be able to ensure the delivery of secure and scalable technical services.
Previous global/regional function and experience in major organization are preferred. Regulated industry experience.
Flexible thinking – looks for improvements in new and existing processes.
Experience of working through contract negotiations with partners and 3rd parties.
Excellent people leadership qualities in both a direct and matrix organisation.
