Job Description : Manager, Software Development Engineering:
Expedia’s Conversation Platform Technology team is responsible for building accelerators, products, and processes that power the Conversational Platform at Expedia Group. As a skilled Manager on Virtual agent control team, you will lead a team of developers and will closely collaborate to craft effortless customer and travel agent experiences worldwide via our virtual agent control SDKs to be consumed in Expedia native apps and other internal and external partners. We support over 100 million customer interactions a year with a global brand portfolio and workforce.
Business Contribution/Impact:
You will design, implement and lead Native SDKs implementation on top of our conversation platform. This will be used by millions of our customers to self-serve their queries in an interactive way on EG brands native mobile apps.
This is directly related to reducing the human to call centre touchpoints for pre and post booking queries and, hence reducing the cost.
Who you are:
Bachelor’s degree or master’s in computer science.
Minimum work experience of 7 years and minimum 5 years of iOS development.
Advanced knowledge and hands on iOS development lifecycle and CI/CD.
You have strong technical acumen which allows you to be responsible for the technical domain; identify strengths and weaknesses among languages and select among available technology to implement and solve for need
Strong design fundamentals and capability to understand complex systems E2E.
You understand when and how to reward and recognize team members
You have acted as a mentor for individual contributors on a team
You have defined team goals and how they fit a business need – working as an enabler for the team to then meet these goals
You have delivered solutions to business problems at the project level
Collaborating closely with the product team you have delivered a product roadmap
Understanding of Android development in addition will be a big plus.
What you’ll do:
You will design, implement and lead Native SDKs implementation.
You will identify areas where efficiency and process improvement are needed.
You will apply new ideas or approaches to enhance team outputs.
You will use established tools and techniques to track progress related to implementing process improvements.
You will demonstrate knowledge of the product development lifecycle from idea generation to bringing a product to market by supporting the different phases and improving product performance.
You will engage with peers across the organization to build an understanding of cross dependencies, priorities, and opportunities to simplify.
You will participate in a community of practice and/or product reviews to share and gain knowledge.
You will act as a spokesperson for software design best practices – researching and recommending frameworks and architectural/code design patterns.
You will identify areas of improvements within the code and suggests solutions.
You will advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability).
You will consider new ways of using technology to meet or enhance customers’ needs.
You will remain informed on industry trends. Examine inefficiencies in the existing stack operation and encourage engineers to improve them.
You will bridge the gap in discussions between technology and non-technology personnel. Report on team status faithfully and listen for suggestions to improve lagging project work.
You will evaluate current team projects or goals and identify the relevant skills and expertise needed to accomplish them.
You will track resource use to ensure minimal waste and reduce duplication of efforts.
You will guide employees in the development of individual goals, provide regular and specific feedback, and assesses performance.
You will mentor employees by providing advice and recommendations based on your own experience and learnings.
You will evaluate how individuals work together as a team to achieve goals. Provide a culture that supports team in the achievement of goal.
