Job Description : Valsoft Corporation is looking for an experienced and dynamic Financial Controller to join the team!
The Financial Controller will be reporting to the Head of Finance of one of the business units. This individual will coordinate and manage period-end close and ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis for a portfolio of acquired companies, as well as lead projects impacting their accounting and handle the more complex accounting issues.
What your day will look like:
Supervise and review the work of local and offshored accounting analysts – 2+ resources and growing (journal entries, reconciliations, reports – including for AR, AP, Billing, and accounting transactions)
Supervise and implement appropriate application of FRS accounting standards
Coordinate the preparation of month-end financials for all the companies within the business unit (several subsidiaries in one company within UK portfolio, adding more companies to the UK portfolio over time)
Prepare monthly financial analysis on key P&L items to better understand financial performance and variances between actual, forecast and budget, and support the reporting team during the month-end close
Review reporting needs and produce ad-hoc reports for the business, in collaboration with the FP&A team
Assist FP&A in the budgeting and forecasting process
Collaborate with the integration team during the acquisition of a company to ensure the adequate setup of the accounting books
Contribute to the standardization of accounting processes with other business units and assist in the implementation of best practices
Strive for continuous improvement activities as part of day-to-day efforts
Support the Head of Finance of the business unit with special projects
Assist the Tax, Treasury, Corporate accounting departments with ad-hoc requests
Build and review workflows, implement processes to optimize efficiency of reporting and put in place internal controls
Train, coach and provide support to the team
Supervise and lead the year-end closing for the business unit, as well as contribute to the audit process in support of the corporate accounting team
About you:
Ability to manage risks by ensuring that effective and efficient internal controls are in place without compromising operational efficiency and flexibility
5-8 years of experience in a similar role, including at least 1-2 years in team management
Fast-learner and adaptable – time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Working knowledge of Sage Intacct ERP (or similar) considered an asset
Ability to visualize efficient processes and implement them
Excellent organizational skills and time management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be a U.K. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Superior analytical skills, detail oriented
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
Fully qualified ACA / ACCA
