Job Description:
Blackberry is looking for a Principal Software Relay Engineer with both C++ and Java coding skills who can participate in software maintenance and new development across two projects. You will be joining our cross-functional engineering team and working on both old and new software systems. You will be tasked to learn and maintain an existing software system written in C++ and in parallel implement new technologies using the Java language into our existing cloud infrastructure. You are expected to be proficient in C++ software development to maintain an existing software system which is the pillar of Blackberry infrastructure. These incident investigation activities include interpreting logs, drawing meaningful insights from log files, and ultimately find reasons why a service is malfunction and clearly communicate the findings and potential workarounds. Also equally important is a deep understanding of Java development and Cloud software ecosystem to develop the next generation Blackberry trusted security software and services.
Primary Responsibilities:
C++
Maintain BlackBerry Dynamics Relay (GDR) server with uptime >99.975%.
Zero downtime for NOC maintenance.
Learn Relay implementation written in C++ and support customer escalations
Java
Design, implement, debug, deliver cloud based products using Amazon Cloud Technology.
Qualifications :
Bachelor degree with minimum 8 years relevant experience
5 years of C++ development experience
5 years of Java development experience
5 years of experience in developing software in Linux environment
3 years of experience in Analysis, Design, Development, Maintenance and Implementing software application in Cloud computing infrastructure such as Amazon web Services (AWS)
Ability to independently interpret and analyze log messages to gain insight into the inner workings of the system.
Proficient in working with SQL databases PostgreSQL
Extensive experience in Version Control Systems like GIT to manage source code effectively
Good knowledge in using Docker primarily for installations and domain configuration
Hands-On experience with JIRA for issue and project management tracking
Experience with monitoring tooling like Kibana, CloudWatch, Prometheus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to investigate objectively and articulate investigation findings to stakeholders.
