Role Description – Summary
This role is for Senior Java Developer responsible for solution design and development. The candidate is expected to work closely with Lead Software Development Manager and other key stake holders to ensure good quality, maintainable, scalable and high performing software applications are delivered to users. He / She should have a strong technological background. Should be hands on and be able to work independently requiring minimal technical/tool guidance. Should be able to technically guide and mentor junior resources in the team. Work closely with team members and vendor team to design and develop software. Should have good communication skill and strong positive outlook.

Responsibilities / Tasks
Proven experience in developing, testing and deploying Java microservices from scratch as well as building PoCs as required
Effective communications skills
Ability to take on reasonably complex tasks and delivery quality, well tested solutions
Mentor junior team members and complete peer code reviews
Participate and manage daily stand-up meetings
Articulate issues and risks to management in timely manner
This role will require 80% Technical involvement and 20% on other activities like team handling, mentoring, status reporting, year-end appraisals
Analyse software defects and fix them in timely manner
Work closely with Stakeholders and other teams e.g. Functional Analysis and Quality Assurance teams
Experience / Exposure
Must have
Spring Framework, creating and consuming RESTful HTTP APIs, excellent knowledge of automation testing (unit/integration/load/stress/black box testing using frameworks such as Junit, Spring Test, Mockito, Wiremock and similar)
Basic knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools (Jenkins, TeamCity), Git (BitBucket, GitHub or similar), Maven, Artifactory, IDEs such as IntelliJ IDEA (or Eclipse)
Basic shell scripting on a Linux environment, basic understanding and some experience with big data tools (Hadoop and Spark and/or cloud-based equivalents)
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes platforms such as OpenShift, Google Kubernetes Engine and similar – must be able to understand the basic concepts and processes of deploying microservices on Kubernetes (K8s) environments
Advanced knowledge of the Java language and basic libraries, including JVM performance tuning
Basic working experience in the big data ecosystem – developing and tuning Spark programs, basic knowledge of Hadoop, Yarn, HDFS, Hue and Oozie. Basic understanding of DevOps processes
Nice to have
Experience building advanced automation solutions based on Java, Python and shell and involving Hadoop, Spark, Oozie HTTP APIs
Basic DevOps skills would be a significant advantage: TeamCity and/or Jenkins pipeline configuration, Python scripting, API automation
