Visa’s HR and Learning Enablement Technology (HRLET) team strives to create best-in-class solutions for Visa to grow, retain and attract talent around the globe. We are trusted advisors to Visa’s HR and Learning leaders to design and implement forward thinking technology solutions to meet Visa’s unique needs now and in the future. We have embarked on a major transformation journey. We will not follow the ‘traditional’ IT playbook of simply configuring packaged software and requiring our employees to accept their limitations. We will instead, leverage cloud-based vendor applications and custom software, to build a connected systems architecture, that is reliable, trusted, responsive, and always available. Overview:
The Staff Software Engineer for Learning Enablement Technology (LET) will be instrumental in creating the future of Learning at Visa. You will do development and provide support for a large portfolio of Learning applications consisting of custom-built applications and multiple SaaS vendors and content providers such as Degreed, Cornerstone, Watershed, LinkedInLearning, Safari. Our Learning applications serve internal Visa Employees as well as our external clients in the payments industry.
This is a very hands-on individual contributor role within Learning Enablement Technology (LET) team that is based in Austin, TX. The role itself is based in Bangalore and you will initially report to the manager in Austin (and a local manager in Bangalore in future), while working with a global team. LET has a startup mindset and we partner with Visa University to build and offer world class learning experiences to anyone, anywhere, anytime. We have a culture of not resting on our laurels and you will fit right in if continuous improvement is in your DNA. The ideal candidate will bring energy and enthusiasm to evolve our learning platforms to the next level. We believe in leading by example, ownership with high standards and being curiously creative. We are looking for an expert in software development, integration and engineering to join the LET team and help drive a learning culture across Visa.
Your initial focus will be to develop new features to meet our aggressive goals for next-gen offerings for Visa University.
Responsibilities:
As a Staff SW Engineer, you will build, integrate, and support lasting, scalable and secure solutions which deliver a delightful user experience, are resilient, and promote learning.
Continue to learn about the industry, propose new learning and payments solutions to meet future needs.
Adhere to SDLC governance framework.
Develop new features for VisaUniversity.com and enhance other SaaS applications supporting Learning.
Mentor a global team in following best practices and build next wave of technology leaders.
Install, review, analyze and evaluate existing solutions, recommend technologies for incubation and future solutions, and help implement recommendations for longevity, stability, performance, and availability.
Engage with product managers, design team, and users to ensure that the right learning platforms and content providers are available and accessible to Visa employees and clients around the world.
Provide technical leadership and partner with technology groups such as Engineering, Network, Security, and Infrastructure on project delivery activities.
Design and own integrations for SaaS and hosted applications.
Produce development artifacts and participate in code-reviews.
Ensure highest level of Engineering and Operational Excellence following CRE (Corporate Reliability Engineering) principles.
Participate in vendor assessments and selection.
Work with limited direction, usually within a complex and fast paced environment to drive delivery of solutions and meet service levels.

Qualifications

Basic
10 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree (in computer science, engineering, or similar) or 8 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 years of work experience with a PhD.Demonstrated strong experience in web development leveraging the tech stack below.Web application development experience in C# .Net/ Core.
Preferred
12-15 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree in computer science or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD.10+ years of experience in software development and implementation, preferably building applications with security at the forefront.5+ years of recent hands-on experience in architecting, designing, delivering and deploying highly available, highly supportable, and highly resilient enterprise solutions.
Learning & development and/ or human resources experience is strongly desired.
IaaS, PaaS, Middleware infrastructure interconnecting 3-party vendors and their systems, DevOps.Full stack experience in designing, developing and deploying web applications in an n-tier environment.Passionate about clean code, clean architecture, code quality, software design principles, code governance, managing technical debt, Operations excellence principles.Hands-on experience with modern web UI frameworks, .NET core or Java, SQL and NoSQL databases, and other modern open-source platforms and technologies.Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, VueJS, and Angular).Proven experience working with scalable distributed systems with load balancers (ex: NGINX).Web Services, Microsoft Azure SSO, SFTP.Strong understanding of agile development.You have an entrepreneurial mindset and treat your work as your business displaying extreme ownership and holding yourself and others accountable.You value building strong relationships and enjoy mentoring/ coaching others.An expert at communicating in all forms and forums, you leverage your executive presence to influence others and have the ability to explain complex topics in simple terms to a varied audience.You are a master collaborator across various geographies and can effectively work with people both in person and virtually.
