The team is looking for an ambitious hands-on technical team lead to work on an exciting strategic product to expand our Aladdin Platform. Working with a global team and be a part of an outstanding group of engineers setting, evolving the technology direction of our upcoming suit of applications for Portfolio Management. Passionate about multiple aspects of enterprise software development – Performance, Scale, Resilience, Usability and Maintainability.
As a lead of our engineering team, you will be encouraged and empowered to bring your ideas forward to help shape the technical solutions. Making you become a key person in our distributed and diverse global team. You also have the opportunity to present your innovative ideas to leaders across the firm.
This position will give you immense exposure and training in some of the latest technologies, such as Azure, APIs, gRPC, Proto-buffs, Spring, Java, Hibernate, Zookeeper and more. The role will also provide an opportunity to learn about the financial industry and the exciting world of investing and portfolio management
Job Description
Lead the development of key Product Functions within Whole Portfolio Product (WPP) and Platform for internal and external Aladdin Clients. Will be supported by a team of highly skilled diverse developers who are well connected and have a consistent record of timely delivery with high quality.
Provide Technical Literacy, Analytical Assessment, Team Leadership, Communication and Problem-solving abilities to develop highly scalable, resilient and performant solutions to continue the buildout of WPP Platform. Responsible for back-end development that includes Java 8, Spring, google protobuff, Junit, Sybase and Cassandra.
Lead development of the best-in-class industry solution by focusing on client priorities, assetclass coverage, seamless integration with private market systems, and the ability to automate various processes involved in Whole Portfolio Operations and also automating Whole Portfolio Product’s client onboarding.
Share ownership of these goals and be expected to interact with operational and client facing teams. Competencies required:
Technical skills
Min. 9 – 12 years of Strong Experience in Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture and Design, and hands-on Technical skills (Java, DB) with the ability to guide developers for the efficient solution around technical challenges using Agile methodologies.
Spring and JPA / Hibernate
At least one JMS implementations (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ etc.)
Web services protocols like REST, SOAP and experience in developing using HTTP
Any one Relational Database (SQL, PL/SQL) and NoSQL like Cassandra, Apache Ignite or Elasticsearch.
Continuous integration and continuous deployment (CD/CI) using Git/CVS/SVN and Jenkins.
Delivery using modern methodologies especially Agile, Iterative, Waterfall, etc.
Leadership skills
Experience leading a technical team of at least 7
Ability to give technical guidance and manage a strong diverse team of highly skilled engineers along with being hands on. Responsible for constant evaluation for up-skilling of talent and training needs of members.
Able to break-down sophisticated technical challenges and requirements into bit-sized tasks for team and provide clarity and context on the same.
Great teammate with Good interpersonal communication and organizational skills to play an impactful role as a leading member of global, distributed teams
Able to manage stakeholders / partners expectations for driving business decisions, agree on priorities and partner with various business teams to drive strategy and technology adoption.
Proficient in Delivery planning and defining of milestones, prioritize initiatives and decides on right allocation of resources to meet project delivery and business commitments.
Expert who identifies risk to projects early on and plans for actions to mitigate them. Call out any kind of risks in a timely manner to ensure that the right partners are in loop as well to achieve our collective goals.
Passionate about delivering resilient, performant and scalable solutions of high quality.
Excellent in Operational abilities including early life support and driving root cause analysis and remediation
Passionate about learning new and emerging technologies and drive technology transformation that is impactful for clients.
Data and quality focused, with an eye for the details that make great solutions
Tech Champion who helps identifying required software, systems and interfaces in alignment with the firm’s enterprise architecture and platform strategy
Nice to have:
Some experience or a real interest in finance, investment or portfolio management processes
Experience with cloud (Azure preferred), cloud native development (Kubernetes, Docker) and distributed computing technologies like Apache Ignite
Good to have some scripting languages knowledge for example Perl and Python
Experience with either front-end web development (such as Angular, Type Script, React)
