Job Description

The Controller will support the Chief Financial Officer in finance, accounting and grant reporting activities. The purpose of this position is to lead the day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, maintaining financial processes for government contracts and grants administration.

Key Responsibilities

Generate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants
Support CFO and Executive Director with grant and governmental budgeting processes
Ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant/program budgets
Perform bank and account reconciliations
Prepare quarterly financial reports to track and analyze budget against performance
Monitor departmental budgets; conduct quarterly expenditure review meetings with department leads
Assist CFO in implementing and developing departmental processes
Responsible for government grant management, reporting and compliance
Manage the Finance operations team
Coordinate with Accounting Partner to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing and payroll

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
3+ years of accounting/finance/operations experience
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks, or similar financial software
Experience with managing detailed and complex government contracts, billing, and reporting to federal entities

Additional Characteristics

Passion for mRelief’s work and civic technology
Work or personal experience with Public Aid, food stamps, is a plus
Strong communication skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Ability to collaborate effectively
Ability to thrive in an outcome-driven work environment
Familiar with Quickbooks and comparable software
