We have grown significantly over the past several years and need this person to hit the ground running to help us achieve our company objectives.Scenic Fruit Company is a family-owned 90-year-old company with 120 employees year-round increasing to nearly 200 during the summer months when we’re in the blueberry harvest season. For this position, it means stepping in to handle the workload in receivables and payables, or any other office areas that are challenged by the workload.Our ideal candidate welcomes the opportunity to refine processes and is focused on creating results in and through people. The Controller we hire will replace outside assistance we have relied upon to analyze and provide council and reporting that helps us optimize every aspect of our business. Direct and open communication is important to us and are looking for someone who is ready for a challenge, wants to grow with our team and is ready to make a significant impact on our business.Areas of Responsibility: Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP, annual audits and annual budgetsPrepare various detailed analyses that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operationsEnsure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports and cash controlDirectly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; coaching and training; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc.Respond to co-presidents as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate company financial needs.Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company’s value.Normal office hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. After hours work occasionally required. Harvest season will require longer hours including night and weekend work.Perform other related duties as assignedQualifications: BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and five to ten years general ledger accounting and financial administration experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Proven supervisory experienceAdvanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases using multiple EDI systems, ERP (NAV) and CenterPoint PreferredProven knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulationsSolid understanding of all accounting cyclesCompensation and Benefits: Compensation will be based on experience.
