Products offered by the Performance Materials segment include specially formulated green sand bond solutions for metalcasting, additives for powdered laundry detergent formulation, and pet litter. This segment operates more than 25 mining or production facilities worldwide. The Performance Materials segment also provides products for non-residential construction, environmental and infrastructure projects worldwide. It serves customers engaged in a broad range of construction projects, including site remediation, concrete waterproofing for underground structures, liquid containment on projects ranging from landfills to flood control, and drilling applications including foundation, slurry wall, tunnelling, water well and horizontal drilling.We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Controller, Metalcasting at our Bethlehem, PA location. The Controller, Metalcasting provides both operational and financial guidance to the Vice President – Metalcasting at the direction of the VP/CFO – Performance Materials. The Controller is responsible for maintaining financial processes, business processes, and control systems for the Metalcasting segment, including managing the financial performance of the business segment by providing fast and accurate reporting, relevant business analysis, accurate forecasting, and thorough management controls. This includes but is not limited to: (1) Ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SOX controls, (2) Cost accounting and variance analysis administration (3) planning, organizing and supervising the monthly close process (4) budget preparation and review; (5) monthly and quarterly financial forecast development (6) capital spend analysis (7) performing financial evaluations to aid decision making (8) assisting VP/CFO with divisional reporting and analysis.Position Details: GeneralParticipates in the preparation and review of the annual plant budget and associated reviews.Recommends and implements improvements relating to all financial reporting aspects of segment plants/companies.Prepares weekly/monthly reporting to facilitate segment financial reviewsAnalyzes business trends to provide explanations for the past and provide guidance for futureEvaluate performance of segment activities and ensure achievement of growth targetsAssist management and executives to achieve business objectivesReview customer and supplier contracts to ensure the interests of MTI are best protectedAssist VP/CFO with divisional reporting and analysisOther duties as assignedCost Accounting, Financial Planning, Reporting, and AnalysisCoordinates and implements the monthly closing process, including variance analysisAssists with the preparation, evaluation, and review of capital projects, including follow-up audits.Prepares monthly financial reviews, forecasts, and annual financial plan.Performs financial evaluations/discounted cash flow analysis to assist decision makingEnsure adherence to US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley, and Corporate PoliciesManages and improves cash flow and working capital metricsDevelops standard costs for productionMonitors ledger reconciliationsWorks in conjunction with MTI’s shared services team to ensure accurate and timely reportingOperational Excellence/LeanActively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem SolvingQualifications and Experience: The requirements listed in the sections that follow are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform the duties of this job. Constant contact with individuals internal and external to the organization occurs via various methods of communication typically including face-to-face discussions, electronic mail, phone calls, written letters and/or faxes. Occasionally there will be exposure to plant production areas, which includes exposure to outside weather conditions as well as loud noise from equipment and dust from production processes. Exposure to plant areas requires the use of appropriate safety equipment.
