Position Summary

This is an advanced professional position responsible for evaluating, developing, and recommending program policy and procedure in the areas of field examination planning and quality control procedures, and effectively implementing revisions to such procedures as directed by division management. The position trains and mentors staff on division field examination planning and documentation standards, coordinates the division’s examination quality control program, performs review of examination work performed by lower-level staff for compliance with division standards and standards established by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), trains and mentors selected senior-level staff to also perform such reviews, and prepares reports evaluating staff and procedures for division management. This position requires high levels of expertise in all areas of the examination process.

Salary Information

Salary for the Insurance Financial Examiner- Advanced will be $43.00-$47.90 hourly or up to the appointment maximum at the time of the appointment. Candidates with certifications (CPA, AFE and CFE) will receive an additional $0.50-$1.00 per hour. This classification is assigned to pay schedule/range 07-02. For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details

This position has potential for a combination of telecommuting and in-person work after an initial training period has been completed.
Due to the nature of the position, OCI will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. OCI does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.
This position will require up to approximately 35% in state and out of state travel.
All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment. At this time, those who are unvaccinated are subject to weekly COVID-19 testing protocols.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have ALL the following:
A Bachelors’ degree in accounting, finance, insurance, risk management, economics, or business.Passed (at a minimum) one test within the AFE (Accredited Financial Examiner) series within the last 36 months.Experience with leading a project or as a lead-worker
A well-qualified candidate will have any of the following:
Passed (at a minimum) one test within the CFE (Certified Financial Examiner) series within the last 36 months or be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Experience working with insurance providers (not as a consumer).
