Description:
An expert software engineer with hands on and validated experience in building modern software systems with an emphasis on backend/server and core infrastructure software.
General Summary:
An experienced engineer with 2 to 4 years proven track record in developing backend and middleware solutions, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures. Familiarity with IP Video and media streaming concepts is a huge plus.
Candidates need to have a Bachelors in Engineering or Computer Science. Post-graduate degree such as Masters is a bonus.
Duties & Responsibilities
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to join our growing Engineering team and help in building our next generation Network OS. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who is willing to take challenge as an opportunity and drive it to resolution. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and test-driven development.
Crafting and implementing software features for various video and broadband access services and solutions.
Crafting and developing systems and solutions for enabling cloud-based delivery of video and access services.
Researching and implementing new tools and technologies to help differentiate CommScope solutions from competitors
As a Software Engineer the candidate will be encouraged to:
Participation in software design and implementation
Perform unit and integration testing of products and solutions.
Investigate and improve functional and performance characteristics of products and solutions.
Resolve technical problems and provide engineering support to solve field issues.
Assist with product development and chip in to functional specifications and design documents.
Participate in source code control and software release activities as the need arises.
Communicate project status, issues and requirements both verbally and in writing.
Skills required
Excellent knowledge and work experience in most of the following areas:
Proficiency in one more high-level programming languages such as Java, TypeScript, Go etc.
Solid foundation in key CS concepts and well-known and widely used data structures and algorithms.
Familiarity with networking and understanding of protocols such as TCP/IP and HTTP(S).
Proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as Python.
Familiarity with software engineering methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, TDD etc
Familiarity with Continuous Integration & Deployment models, processes and tools.
Familiarity with Linux-based systems.
Familiarity with RESTful Web services and experience developing REST APIs in Java or TypeScript.
Understanding of distributed systems architectures and commonly used middleware such as Kafka, Redis etc.
Experience with software engineering tools such as Git (source code control), Jira (bug tracking), Maven, Bamboo (build) etc.
Exposure to cloud technologies and micro-services architecture principles.
Experience with cloud-native tools and technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
Familiarity with video streaming technologies and protocols is a plus.
Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies and concepts.
Good written and verbal communication skills a plus.
Any front-end (UI) development experience is a plus.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task based upon changing project needs
Determined with a desire to learn new technologies
Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills
Effective interpersonal skills with a positive demeanour to engage with collaborators
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards
Passion to design and develop large, sophisticated and highly scalable systems.
