As a Senior Representative, you’ll review and process policies with complex auditable exposures to resolve individual risk premiums. You’ll conduct telephone audits with the insured, vendors or agents to acquire audit figures needed to determine the actual earned premium.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Analyzes, processes and reviews policyholder’s financials, acquired voluntarily or through an audit vendor. Ensures the policy has used accurate classifications from the information provided. Responds to audit inquiries for agents, vendors, and policyholders.
Reviews and analyzes dispute information documentation received from general agents, insureds or brokers for relevance by interpreting financial statement, federal tax returns, workers compensation audits, quarterly reports and state unemployment records. Decides if dispute information is valid to warrant a revision.
Responds to premium audit requests from other internal areas like Underwriting and Sales. Advises underwriters of any relevant underwriting factors discovered during audit. May research and resolve policies involved with test audits, unit stat errors or other state and company regulatory requirements.
Communicates with insureds, general agents, internal departments and external firms as well as the ISO website about disputes, exposures, classification changes or procedures. All information acquired from these areas is used to complete the final audit or assist in the decision to warrant a revision due to a Policyholder or Agent dispute.
Communicates directly with the insured, agents and internal departments to resolve service issues, policy explanation and audit questions.
Resolves disputes under established authority limits. Refers to management, any unresolvable disputes.
Communicates directly with the insured to resolve issues around additional premiums. Reviews additional/return premium audits over pre-established limits of less experienced and peer-level associates to ensure accuracy of processing prior to audit. May review additional or return premium audits over a specified limit as a quality and quantity control measure and notifies Underwriting and agent of audit results.
Communicates directly with valued agencies to review, process or resolve large complex policies.
Monitors completed audit work and shares information with management as needed about quality, quantity, exceptions, state changes or insured’s concerns. May approve vendor hours over contract minimum within established limits.
Assists in training and reviewing the work of lower level associates. Provide quality review assistance as needed. Attend trials, arbitration, settlement hearings about premium due for audits.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Supervisor/Manager.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred. Completion of general accounting or field auditing courses preferred.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications: Completion of general and technical insurance courses such as IIA and Technical Achievement Program (TAP) preferred.
Experience: Two to three years of experience processing premium audits and resolving disputes.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of bureau and company rating and coding systems, and bureau rating manuals. Working knowledge of policy issuance procedures, and premium transactions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal with internal and external customers/policy holders, other field personnel and professionals. Ability to analyze and interpret audit information. Clear thinking and decision making skills for resolving disputes quickly and correctly. Ability to operate a personal computer and related software.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Working Environment: Normal office environment. Overtime and some travel as needed.
