Role purpose

A Senior Developer in a telco environment, who will design and develop high quality, scalable enterprise level software for a number of key voice numbers activation and number management applications within the company. This role forms a key part of the overall technology service involving the development of Java, J2EE solutions for the internal users and external customers. The solutions are typically either enhancements or portfolio construction that interfaces with the existing telco systems along with various other integration points throughout the business.

Key accountabilities

Application Development
A lead developer role to deliver software for business critical voice products.
Gather systems development requirements from business users.
Document requirements in a form which can be used within the team (eg user cases, data models).
Analyse and validate requirements to produce high level, low level designs and specifications in line with standards and methodologies in use.
Provide estimates for requirements, analyse and develop application as per the requirement.
Induct best security practises while developing applications.
Transform the application development by introducing latest technologies and methodologies.
Carry out 2nd/3rd line support where required. Implement and test against specifications, delivering improvements to end users.
Expand and use of standard technology, frameworks, processes and best practices.
Educate end users on latest features.
Provide examples and test cases.
Work to ensure end users receive high quality, high performance, and useful solutions. Including both front end and back end.

Seeks out all available customer service/performance data and takes action to resolve issues.
Proactively reviews own workload to make sure that work which impacts on customer experience is a priority – discusses issues with manager and agrees how to resolve.

Accurate impact assessments in terms of development estimates.
Minimum code defects during testing cycle.

Relationships and key contacts

Work collaboratively with Business analysts, IT architects, product managers, other system dev teams and testing teams.

Role specific requirements

Skills & Experience
Mandatory
Proficient application developer with in-depth knowledge and expertise in enterprise products and supporting technologies. With Minimum 8+ years on experience in Enterprise application development of Java, J2EE.
Minimum 6+ years in in designing and developing enterprise systems for both high availability and scalability and with proven front end experience.
Minimum 2+ years working in a continuous integration driven environment with proven track record of progressive thinking and continuous improvement.
Desirable
4+ years of experience in development of telco number activation and management software in a service-provider or global-enterprise setting.
Skills
Should be familiar with standard practices like ITIL , SDLC
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Developing all levels of the application stack, including front end.
Experience in development using Agile Methodology
Java, J2EE,
Spring,
Hibernate,
Angular,
HTML,
Javascript,
JQuery,
Experience with microservices and dockers desirable
Database (Oracle/ MS SQL),
SOAP & REST APIs
