Position : School Social Worker
Job Description : The Laurel School District is seeking 1 qualified applicant for the position of School Social Worker, beginning the 2022-2023 school year.
Salary Range: $52,993.70-87,977.54 (Salary is dependent on years of experience and educational level) This position is part of the Certified Bargaining Agreement and placement on the salary matrix will be limited to eight years of service/experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters level Social Worker, current Montana LCSW preferred
Master’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work or related field
Successful and appropriate clinical social work experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides direct services to students – individual therapy.
Facilitates group services to students – educational and/or group therapy.
Provides direct services to parents – educational and/or family therapy.
Acts as a liaison for students and families to community resources and/or agencies.
Provides consultation to school personnel.
Observes in the classroom.
Assists in crisis situations.
Acts as a liaison for students and families to community resources and/or agencies.
Assists in the development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans.
Advocates for students and is an active member in the IEP/ER processes.
Assists in the organization and implementation of special programs.
Provides family assessments/developmental history/written reports.
Maintains accurate records documenting student services, including Medicaid billing as appropriate
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Provides consultation to parents and liaison with outside agencies in support of student and parents
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Talking to others to convey information effectively
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do
Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand
Writing and maintaining case management records
Knowledge of methods of assessment; systematic processes to collect data, translate assessment results into empirically based decisions about service delivery and evaluate outcomes of services.
Knowledge of learning processes, appropriate instructional interventions to meet students’ needs, and the ability to implement and assess their effectiveness.
Knowledge of behavioral mental health, collaborative and/or consultation models and methods and their application.
