Job Details
Position Title: Student Accounts Specialist
Status: Full Time Contract
Hours: 35hrs/wk
Faculty/Department: Office of the Registrar
Campus/Location: Lakeshore Campus
Salary: Band E Min ($25.89) Max ($30.01)
What you will do:
Under the direction of the Manager, Fees, the Student Accounts Specialist provides front line support services for Student Financial Services in the Office of the Registrar. The primary role of this position is to be focused on providing expert advice and assistance regarding a broad range of student financial and fee related questions and topics for domestic and international students while providing general knowledge assistance of other areas as required. The incumbent must retain a wide range of knowledge on programs, courses, academic policies, Humber and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities policies and procedures and college services. Specific duties include: responding to inquiries directly with the client or authorized third-parties to resolve issues regarding fee assessments; responding to student enquiries related to transactions on students’ accounts; analyzing and correcting errors discovered/identified in student accounts; validating transactions, fees and balances prior to refunds being processed; working with other departments of the College to resolve fee-related enquiries and issues. This position is focused on providing information and services through multiple service paths including: in writing by e-mail, by telephone, or other electronic media. The incumbent is expected to work on various assignments associated with the Office of the Registrar that have guidelines and strict deadlines whereby the individual is required to coordinate multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
What you bring to the role:
Education:
The successful candidate will possess a 2 year diploma in Business, Public Relations or a related field.
Experience and Skills:
A minimum of two years of practical experience in a complex customer service environment that includes financial transactions.
Proficiency of fundamental accounting principles
Use of initiative both in planning of work and in taking a pro-active approach to addressing customer concern
Providing adequate follow up to complaints and concerns
Excellent interpersonal, listening and customer service skills
Consistent attention to detail.
Strong written/verbal communication skills and organizational skills are an asset
Knowledge and experience in a highly automated post-secondary educational environment.
Successful Applicants:
Must have access to a reliable internet connection.
Must have a suitable and private work space to take calls from home/remotely.
Should be comfortable working from home/remotely and on-site as we are utilizing a hybrid approach at this point in time. There could be changes to this approach pending direction from government officials and public health.
