Job Description : The mission of USC Recreational Sports is to provide the university community with opportunities to pursue a balanced, healthy lifestyle through participation in recreational activities. Recreational Sports aims to support our members through fitness and recreational programming, leadership development, training and cross-unit collaboration. Recreational Sports includes the following programs: Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness, Martial Arts, Outdoor Adventure Rentals, Youth Programs, Aquatics, Spirit Groups, Informal Recreational, Facility Membership and Special Events. Our staff works together to provide quality recreational programming, enhance the USC student experience, provide quality customer service, mentoring and professional development opportunities to full-time and student employees.

Under the direction of the Facilities Coordinator, the Facility Operations Assistant will oversee and manage the daily operation of the facilities and equipment in the Lyon Center (LRC), University Village Fitness Center, HSC Fitness Center, and related fields and facilities, which includes oversight of custodial, maintenance, card access, membership, security, safety, and general facility procedures.

Job Accountabilities

Conduct daily walk-through of the Lyon Center (LRC), USC Village Fitness Center, HSC Fitness Center, and related fields and facilities. Specific responsibilities include performing routine maintenance inspections of facility and equipment for deficiencies and safety hazards.
Develop, implement, and maintain procedures for facility access and general security for the building. Enforce safety and regulatory compliance throughout the building.
Responsible for the management of student workers and front line operations. Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to staff and student workers. Assist with the implementation of current and new recreational programming.
Collaborate with recreation department staff in the programming, marketing and communication of recreation related programs. Coordinate with University Park Campus and Health Sciences Campus departments to host special events related to health and wellness.
Coordinate with USC Facilities Management and outside contractors to schedule maintenance and repairs.
Assist with short and long range planning related to facility projects, equipment and inventory control.
Assist with assessing facility programs and services by collecting data relating to operations and participation numbers. Identify and report key trends and concerns.
Serve as a department staff member on duty for operations and facilities, which includes, but is not limited to, serving as a first responder for emergencies, providing emergency care, providing customer service, resolving conflicts and making decisions and judgments regarding facility usage.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree
Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

Experience

Two years of experience in facility management, scheduling and program supervision.
Knowledge of scheduling and asset management software.

Preferred Qualifications
Education

Master’s Degree

Experience

Three years of applicable experience
Proven experience in writing reports for management review
Management Responsibility
Previous experience in fitness center or facilities management.
Ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish department goals
Candidates should possess a strong orientation towards customer service, organizational skills, decision making and a willingness to work with a diverse student and staff/faculty population.

Note: This position will require some early mornings, nights and weekends as business needs dictate.
