Job Summary
Pierian, a leader in the clinical genomics space, is currently seeking a talented and motivated Senior Python Developer to join a fast-paced and growing Knowledgebase Software team. As a member of this team, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team responsible for our Clinical Genomics Knowledgebase, the engine that powers the genetic interpretation and reporting solution in use by all of our customers.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a multitude of interesting problems that may have multiple solutions but all will require great architectural thinking, software design and analysis, and excellent coordination skills across members from other functions. It is not a run-of-the-mill software product development, so this job won’t suit those who only want to read JIRA tickets and push code to Github!
Your contributions will enable clinical laboratories and physicians to deliver patient-specific diagnosis and treatments based on an individual’s DNA – a noble cause that can save someone’s life!

Required Experience and Skills
Approximately 6-8 years experience working in a software development team
Proficiency with Python coding languages (2.x/3.x)
Write reusable, testable, and efficient code
Design and implement low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications
Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation
Experience with at least one of the NoSQL databases (preferably MongoDB)
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and REST API
Basic shell scripting and basic Linux commands
Hands-on experience with Django, Flask or other Python frameworks
Ability to work on new languages/tools as required. (eg. Google App script)
Help design and implement functional requirements
Version control using GIT/Bitbucket
Prepare technical documentation
Coach junior team members
Software Design principles – SOLID, GRASP
Best practices code quality measures and unit testing
Interpersonal and communication skills that make you a great team player
Attention to detail and ability to handle fuzzy problems
Experience with Agile practices
Good to have
Experience working in the life sciences domain
Containerization (Docker)
Jenkins (Continuous Integration)
AWS (or similar Cloud environment)
Elasticsearch, Content Management Systems, and ETL tools
Experience working in a regulated environment (healthcare, banking, etc.)
Educational Qualification
Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from a reputed college.
