Job Description : This position is grant-funded for one year, operating under the general direction of the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch. It is a one-half-time position with a varying, flexible schedule but an expectation of an average engagement of 20 hours/week. The Beaverhead County Crisis Response Coalition is a collaborative group of community leaders committed to improving access to crisis-related and behavioral health services for county residents. The Coalition recognizes the significant gaps in mental health and behavioral health crisis services in Beaverhead County. This planning grant will allow a thorough review of available services, gaps in services, and what additional or revised services are needed to meet the county’s crisis response needs. The goal is to develop a well-researched evaluation, unique to Beaverhead County to be used as the basis for developing an appropriate behavioral health care crisis response system.
The Crisis Response Project Coordinator will do an in-depth dive into current crisis protocols, identify gaps in services The Crisis Response Task Force is seeking a Crisis Response Team Community Coordinator. This individual will coordinate and facilitate the development of a comprehensive, community-based mental health and behavioral health crisis system planning document. The completed plan will include a strategy for improving services available in Beaverhead County, the development of a strategic plan of improvement, identification of where changes are needed, e.g. expansion of facilitate agency services, develop formal agreements, and managing the project.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Serves as Beaverhead County’s point of contact for the county for the development of an effective and comprehensive mental and behavioral health services crisis response plan/program.
Coordinate with community partners to build an effective network of individuals and groups to develop a community-based mental and behavioral health crisis response initiative.
Compile and update a thorough list of community resources, identifying strengths, gaps in services, weaknesses, and establish future short and long-term goals and objectives to improve individual well-being through the development or expansion of crisis response services in Beaverhead County.
Coordinate the design, implementation, and evaluation of strategies to improve the performance and increase the capacity and performance of the local behavioral health services.
Coordinate and collaborate with community agencies and families to maintain coordination of treatment and intervention services in order to reduce or avoid the excessive use of the community’s critical care access hospital’s emergency department and unnecessary engagement with law enforcement through the development of alternative, long-term, and appropriate local alternatives.
Research other successful crisis response programs developed in our state and region in order to evaluate the potential for replicating new protocols in Beaverhead County.
Establish and foster cooperative relationships with local behavioral health providers, community service agencies, and contract staff and serve as the community liaison for the groups.
Work proactively in coordination with local public health, law enforcement agencies, schools, hospitals and health care facilities, federally qualified health centers, emergency medical services, elected officials, social service organizations, and persons with lived experience to identify developmental and behavioral health needs in the County.
Research and identify the types of expanded behavioral health training and activities potentially needed for first responders, law enforcement, and local community behavioral/mental health providers to help identify solutions.
Support community health development priorities by participating in and identifying available community mental health and behavioral crisis intervention services available.
Research strategies to develop community behavioral health services to address suicide intervention, crisis response, and consistent and ongoing mental health services.
Adhere to appropriate personal and professional boundaries with clients, families, co-workers, and community service providers, maintain client and employee confidentiality, and adhere to HIPAA requirements.
Report monthly to the administrator of Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch and the Crisis Task Force, maintain the budget, timelines, and other internal systems to track and monitor progress to ensure success.
Collaborate with Montana Healthcare Foundation “MHCF” to identify and disseminate success stories and lessons learned through the development of the project, provide periodic updates of media coverage, and notify MHCF of any negative media reports and issues.
Maintain financial records, including but not limited to, invoices, receipts, and banking records, documenting how the Grant funds are expended and documenting compliance with the requirements of the grant agreement and with State and Federal law.
Provide interim reports of expenditures in each approved budget line, including Personnel, Fringe Benefits, Expenses, Contracts, and Indirect Expenses to MHCF.
Provide brief narrative reporting describing the progress per the Grant Agreement and provide copies of materials and major work products completed.
Provide a final financial report summarizing expenditures during the Grant Term and a final narrative report indicating accomplishments under the Work Plan.
Provide health outcome reporting to MCHF.
Assist with current grant activities and pursue new grant opportunities related to behavioral health initiatives in the community.
Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency as measured by the development and achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals, and outcomes. Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization both individually and as a team member.
Deal constructively and helpfully with all other members of the organization.
Fully support and model the mission and values of YBGR.
Adhere to all policies, systems, safety requirements, and procedures of the organization.
Take the initiative to identify problems and seek out solutions.
Be a professional representative of the organization to those outside it.
Participate and engage in monthly supervision/coaching meetings with the supervisor.
Be aware of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of persons served.
Participate in required training as appropriate to the position and beneficial to YBGR.
Other duties as assigned.
