Job Mission:
The Program Director is a core member of the Chrysalis Leadership Team.
The Program Director reports to the Executive Director. The mission of the Program Director role is to oversee student programming, staffing, and operations and to work in collaboration with the clinical team to implement Chrysalis’s treatment framework. The Program Director will ensure there is healthy program culture and norms, minimize risks, ensure student and staff safety, develop and grow people, build upon and optimize systems and processes, work closely with the Executive Director and other leaders (Clinical Director, Academic Director, Residential Managers, and Admissions). The Program Director is someone who can effectively manage people and large teams with multiple levels of employees and with varying degrees of experience and professional development. The position requires a natural customer focus and team builder mentality in order to meet the needs of referents, parents, employees, and students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs and manages all Residential Managers, Adventure Manager, and Night Watch Manager. Rewards employees for exceptional work.
Works in cooperation with the HR point person throughout the hiring process and makes the final hiring decisions for their department.
Provides on-shift orientation for new hires using the orientation checklist provided. Provides new managers with orientation and ongoing training.
Trains Managers on an ongoing basis and formally each week in a team meeting.
Evaluates Managers on an ongoing basis and formally with a quarterly evaluation.
Responsible for disciplining as needed. Formal methods of discipline include: verbal warning, write-up, probation, suspension, and termination.
Attends treatment team meetings and directs them as needed.
Responsible for creating/delegating the creation of the program events calendar.
Actively support and participate in each program tour or event.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Company policies and practices (see training manual).
Knowledge of hiring and discipline policies and procedure.
Knowledge of Youth Mentor and Supervisor job duties and responsibilities.
Knowledge of the issues and disorders that the students are faced with.
Knowledge of medications distributed to students.
Skill in teaching and motivating both staff and students.
Skill in managing available resources and creating a true team environment.
Skill in communication.
Ability to prioritize and organize.
Ability to work effectively with other professionals such as therapists and nurses.
Ability to lead by example.
Ability to safely hold or restrain an upset or comparative student.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Excellence in all management knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must maintain certification is CPR, First Aid, and restraint training.
Education and Experience:
The position requires experience working with at risk youth, or post high school training in the field of mental health. Experience working at Chrysalis specifically is also required. A Bachelors degree in a related field of study is preferred but not required. 2+ years effective management experience required.
