Global RBWM Retail Credit Risk manages Credit Risk associated with Retail lending products (Mortgages, Credit Cards, Loans and Overdrafts) for all countries HSBC operates in. The function is supported by several hundred analytics professionals engaged in reporting, modelling and data manipulation. As a result, there are significant challenges to the effective management of data within the function requiring close cooperation with partners in RBWM and Finance.
The Retail Credit Risk (RCR) Data Team is seeking Data Analysts to support and deliver of Data projects at Global and Regional levels. A data strategy is being implemented consisting of MI and Data focused projects supporting business and regulatory requirements, with a goal of moving significant processes to Cloud.
The successful candidate will form an integral part of the RCR Data Management function and will be actively involved in the definition of business requirements, global data strategies and implementation activities. There is also a key requirement to ensure compliance against regulatory driven data requirements including Basel 3 and the Data Management FIM.
The successful candidate will be expected to exercise independent initiative in proactively overcoming obstacles to success, dealing with uncertainty and changing circumstances, project interdependencies, opportunities and risks.
The successful candidate will have the ability to multi-task priorities, be self-motivated and have a can-do attitude They will be expected to adopt an agile and flexible approach to work and an outstanding level of professionalism and conduct
(Brief Overview of the Role)
This role provides regulatory data analytics using data from different geography. The primary responsibilities would be:
Understand the Data Requirements for regulatory requirements
Perform Data Analysis to develop data sourcing requirement
Exposure to regulatory/financial domain
Develop data quality rules and implement for data accuracy & Completeness
Ability to interpret and manipulate large data sets, data storage, ETL and data modelling
Proven experience in Data Analysis role with programming skills in SAS and Python
Use Group/Regional data source systems written in SAS, and various other data marts, for data cleaning, data quality, and to perform the necessary analysis to highlight key findings such as breaches from key risk parameters within Risk Strategy.
Working closely with global and regional teams to deliver Basel III related data management and governance projects.
Closely aligning and managing expectation of stakeholders from a Global and Regional perspective for Basel III implementation
Actively involved in the business requirements, global data strategies, testing and implementation activities for Basel III
What you’ll do:
Data Management Department (RDM) is responsible for managing data governance, data policy, data strategy, data asset, data architecture, data programs and data analytics under HASE WPB risk.
The Assistant Data and Analytics Manager is supporting the Department in the following areas :
Support the data quality assessment and data quality improvement in accordance with the data quality management operating model for precise risk reporting and analytics.
Support the implementation of data management framework covering critical data element inventory, data changes, etc. to comply with Group standards and regulatory requirements, e.g. BCBS239.
Support the system enhancements covering from requirements acquisition to testing on the WPB Risk Datamart and risk data platform / tools to enhance the decision making capability.
Support the data science initiatives on data enablement, data analytics and data visualization to maximize the benefit of data assets.
Support the deployment of cloud technologies and other market recogized data science tools.
Support the regular delivery of Basel related reporting, analytics and regulatory disclosures.
Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role:
4-year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from reputed University with concentration on finance, economics or other quantitative field such as statistics or engineering.
Strong analytical skills with 3+ years of proven data analysis experience or equivalent. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations preferred.
Advanced knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python(preferably) and other equivalent analytical tools is necessary.
Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success
What additional skills will be good to have?
Exposure to Python would be an added advantage
