Working within the UK Business Finance team, the role supports the manager responsible for Lloyd’s Planning and Regional Expense control processes for the UK & Lloyd’s Business Unit. This is a diverse role that will give the opportunity for candidates with experience in one of these areas to broaden their finance knowledge and skill set.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
Lloyd’s Planning
Assist in the preparation and submission of the annual Lloyd’s Syndicate Business Forecast (SBF) and resubmissions as may be required.
Work closely with finance business partners, underwriting managers, pricing actuaries, ceded re, capital and central expense team to bring together the key plan inputs.
Assist with preparation of planning materials for communication to underwriting management, governance committees and for board review and approval.
Assist with associated Lloyd’s deliverables, including ORSA multi-year planning, related parties return.
Close interaction with the Lloyd’s reporting team undertaking the reporting again plan – QMB
Expense Control
Annual Budgeting
Assist in developing the headcount and direct expense budgets for the non-UW UK Leadership Team members (CEO, CFO, COO, CDO etc) and to ensure that the expense planning tool reflects these forecasts.
Where relevant, assist with developing comprehensive ground-up budgets (by vendor) where these do not currently exist.
Key Quarterly Activities
Assist with the preparation of expense accruals for Workplace, Distribution, Marketing and other functions as needed.
Review preliminary bookings for the quarter and work with supporting functions to correctly align these.
Help to develop and roll-out quarterly communications on headcount and direct operating expenses to UK Leadership Team members (and their teams). This will include presenting updates and fielding questions.
Assist with the preparation of quarterly expense variance commentary and headcount/expense reforecasts for remaining quarters of the year.
Key Monthly Activities
Track headcount movements in/out of the region headcount and ensure correct financial coding is being applied (in conjunction with HR).
Common with all members of the UK Business Finance team, participation in ad-hoc project work across the broader remit of business finance will be required from time to time.

You will report to the Lloyd’s Planning Manager.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Drive to succeed
Solid understanding of either insurance or reinsurance, with experience of Lloyd’s planning or expense control preferred, but not essential.
Familiarity with the cycles of budgeting, analysis of variances to budget and reforecasting.
Confident in communicating and presenting to senior management
Organised and methodological approach to monthly, quarterly and annual processes whilst being able to deliver on ad-hoc requests as they arise.
Building effective relationships
Qualified or Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent preferred, but not essential)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
