Key Accountabilities
Works closely with Solution Architects to understand business requirements and interface design to deliver according to specifications. The API engineer will provide guidance and consulting to the architects and analysts to assist in shaping the requirements and design to be both practical and to materially advance the vision of the platform as established by the product manager.
Adheres to governance and best practices when developing solutions and is receptive to feedback during design and code reviews. Partnership with enterprise architecture and adherence to architecture review processes will ensure alignment to broader global standards and direction.
Creates documentation for interfaces in the common/central repositories for DTS (IT).
Ensures quality of their deliverables by incorporating MUnit/JUnit test cases in their Mule/Java projects and participates in subsequent phases of testing.
Reports to the product owner and team any blockers that could impede timely delivery of solutions per agreed timelines
The business and engineering teams are global and the API engineer will need to occasionally flex their work schedule to collaborate with other team members in different regions and time zones
Mentors and assists junior developers when they need help and assist with technical on-boarding of new hires and contract or agency engineers.
Skills / Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree with 7 years overall relevant professional experience in integration or API development
4 years of technical experience with MuleSoft’s Anypoint platform, including the use of the following components:
o Anypoint Studio 7 and Mule 4
o Anypoint Exchange
o Anypoint API Manager
o Anypoint Runtime Manager
o DataWeave expression language
Demonstrated experience designing and developing APIs from specification to implementation, including strong knowledge in web service protocols and API constructs such as:
o REST, JSON, OData
o RAML, OAS, YAML
o SOAP, XML
o SSL certificates, Java Keystores, OAuth, OIDC
Thorough understanding of DevOps principles and experience with CI/CD tools such as:
o Azure DevOps
o Git
o Jenkins
o Maven
Skilled in the use of API testing tools such as Postman, SOAP UI, or Insomnia
Knows how to create MUnit test cases from scratch or using the test recorder
Aptitude for understanding data flow & sequence diagrams
Understands API-led connectivity (system, process, and experience API) and the importance of decomposition into reusable components
Experience working in an agile delivery environment, especially product teams
Core Competencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in a distributed environment with teammates across the globe
ITIL and Service Level Management concepts
Ability to understand KPI and metric based outcomes
Cyber Security principals
