With offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne they are responsible and accountable for providing strategic and operational IT support across the Healthcare Group’s laboratory, diagnostic, general practice, and corporate medical services. They employ some 400 people across IT Infrastructure, Applications Development, Cyber and Web Security, Service Delivery, Governance Risk & Compliance and Product Development. The Opportunity
The Cloud Engineer (VDI) role is a part of the Infrastructure Group supporting large scale on-premise Cloud solutions for Virtualisation Desktop Infrastructure and End User Computing. The role is responsible for:
Designing, building and supporting the private cloud infrastructure leveraging VMware Horizon & SDDC product suites
Implementation of monitoring solutions
Subject matter expertise for all Horizon Virtual desktop activities
End User computing projects
Maintenance, optimisation and security of all data platforms
Collaborative engagement with other IT support and organisational teams
Assisting with application packaging and customisation (App Volumes, DEM, GPO, PowerShell etc)
Risk mitigated implementations in line with Group level security policy
Participating in an on-call roster
About You
The ideal candidate will be VCP-DTM or VCP-DCV certified. You will bring a minimum of 5 years demonstrated enterprise level experience working in large scale complex environments where the IT solution is on-premise. In addition, key experience and knowledge required includes:
Experience with VMware Horizon (virtual desktop environments)
Engineering support for Horizon and products from VMware and SDDC
Automation and scripting experience
Customisation skills using scripting, GPO and DEM
Managing and supporting thin client solutions
Performing upgrades of Horizon and vSphere Infrastructure
Networking troubleshooting skills and integrations with SDN’s, firewalls and load balancers
NSX, Checkpoint, Microsoft, Cisco or F5 certifications are desirable
Please note that Sonic IT operates its Cloud solutions from premises located in Brisbane and Sydney. This role is open to candidates in these locations.
