Our team is seeking a Data Analyst with strong software design and coding skills and broad experience building cloud services, data pipelines, and excellent APIs. You will be interfacing with Customer Success Management, Support, Product Management, and other teams across VMware. You will participate in all the development phases dashboards & analytics including requirements, design, coding, unit testing, debugging and performance tuning. Day-to-day activities may include:
Participate in key architecture and design decisions
Own and deliver key product features (generally as part of a team)
Actively contribute to a culture of high ownership, continuous improvement and engineering excellence
Always be on the lookout for ways to improve our development practices and processes
Job Role and Responsibility:
We are looking for a BI and Analytics expert to drive business optimization & transformation across the EUC organization. The position responsibilities include the following:
Tackle business problems, drive real-time decision-making, and champion impactful predictive modeling by using business expertise, data understanding, and analytic experience
Partner closely with Customer Success, Product Management, Field Engineering and Support teams to understand their business challenges and develop appropriate analytics, reporting and visualization solutions to address them
Work with and understand complex analytical datasets on various data warehouse platforms to meet business objectives
Support communication, training, and documentation to enable successful user adoption
Enable reporting & analytic skills across other teams to grow the capabilities of the organizations we support and promote self-service analytics
Act as data and analytics expert. Analyze data to answer business questions, recommend analytic solutions to provide business insight, and craft dashboards for long term business needs
Create and maintain internal documentation on the usage of our analytics platform
Work towards organizing a data science project with clear deliverable and timeline
Collaborate with other team members and need to provide support and mentoring
Proactively engage with Business stakeholders with a consultative approach
Required Skills:
Technical Skills
4+ years of hands-on analytics experience
Solid background in dashboard & report development, business analysis, and requirements gathering
Technical knowledge and experience working with the industry leading BI tools: Tableau, Power BI,Mode Analytics, SQL skills, and other tools
Proficient in either R/Python with minimum 2 years of hands on experience.
Proficient in SQL and experience with efficient processing of large data sets. Ability to write sophisticated and optimized queries against large databases
Able to understand the Business Problem and convert it into a Data Mining Problem
Prepare data for analysis using SQL or domain specific tool (example: Omniture for Digital)
Should possess Excel, PowerPoint and strong visualization and presentation skills
Should be able to create and present Exploratory Data Analysis from given dataset
Ability to work and execute projects on both structured and unstructured data in a big data environment
Be able to build hands-on develop propensity models (to buy, to sell, to respond), lead nurture, segmentation, cross-sell/up-sell models, forecasting using R / Python or any other language/Machine learning libraries
Understanding of different model performance metrics and hyperparameters optimization
Presenting Model results and insights to team lead/managers, senior management & Leadership and stakeholders
Bring in Knowledge of statistical or data science methods to deliver insights desired
Good conceptual understanding of machine learning algorithms including linear regression, logistic regression, decision tree, random forest etc and usage of various machine learning or statistical libraries
Clear, professional, and concise communications (written/verbal), presentation and facilitation skills
Able to use consultative approach and persuasive communication
Ability to take initiative and to set priorities independently
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Business and Soft Skills:
Understand the Business and its nuances
Grasp requirements on call and deliver to specification
Ability to communicate and explain the model in Layman language
Drive stakeholder engagements by driving complex analytical projects including bottoms-up projects
Effective program management to keep stakeholders and team engaged throughout the delivery process
Develop storyboards for executive presentations
Quick Learner and quick adopter for the ad hoc business requirement changes
Preferred Skills:
BS/BE in Computer Sciences, Math, Statistics or related field. MBA preferred.
Preferred understanding about HAWQ, or any other MPP architecture databases.
Should have expertise in analytics for sales/marketing/digital/finance domain.
Experience of intent to learn software domain related to VMware products and unified end point management domain
Business Acumen, ability to translate business needs into a set of workable, specific requirements
Ability to understand business requirements, KPIs and convert into analytical hypothesis in a structured and logical manner along with solution identification
Ability to handle multiple projects at a time in terms of multitasking, prioritization, allocation and team management
Ability to coordinate and work within a multiple business unit from project management perspective
Ability to work across geographies and interact with global stakeholders
Ability to write readable code and use tools like GitHub for version control
Prior experience working in Agile methodologies/JIRA would be a plus
Ability to measure the business value impact driven by a Data science model implementation
