Financial & Professional Services division (FPS) division has significant scale with c£130m revenue generated by 30+ specialist businesses organised into 4 distinct pillars – Next Gen; Events; Derivatives; People Intelligence – which are supported by a dedicated global team of approximately 1,200 people.
FP&S provides critical and often industry-standard information, events, and tools to help our clients make high value decisions. Our vision is to become embedded in our customer workflow through actionable intelligence and insights, strengthening relationships and aligning decision makers.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a permanent position within the divisional financial control team to lead a team of Management Accountants for part of the FPS Division (currently Next Gen and Derivatives pillars). Based in London reporting directly to the Divisional Financial Controller.
Key accountabilities:
Manage, coach and develop a high performing team of Management Accountants (currently five). Lead by example.Help to implement and maintain robust financial control and reporting environment.Prepare and review management accounts to ensure they are in accordance with company policy and applicable accounting standards. Present them to relevant Business and Finance stakeholders.Develop key insights that can be used by the business to drive performance.Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring balances are fully substantiated.Review monthly commentary on performance against budget, forecast and prior year for businesses under ownership.Review calculation of monthly commissions and bonuses against documented incentive schemes.
Support business stakeholders with their management information needs.Challenge established thinking by applying sound, impartial and professional judgement.Ensure that processes and controls are globally aligned, consistent and coordinated. Share best practice across division and department.Foster and embody a culture of collaboration across the pillar, division, department and company.Other ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Divisional Financial Controller
SKILLS/
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Experience and Qualifications:Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)People management and coachingUnderstanding of internal controls requirementsContinuous process improvement expertise and mindsetProficient Excel skills and experience with manipulating large amounts of dataExcellent attention to detailExperience in divisional reporting structureStrong knowledge of UK & US GAAP and IFRS
Understanding of direct and indirect taxation
Technical competence in finance systems, ideally NetSuite and SAP FC
Competencies:Effective coach and team leader.Understanding of subscription, events and data business models for information services.Ability to manage own time effectively, complete work to tight deadlines, respond to queries in a timely manner and keep stakeholders informed.Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.Ability to communicate effectively, concisely and accurately over email and in person.Professional manner and continuous improvement mind-set.
