Job Description : Exciting opportunity to join a new and developing Education Centre for a range of learners with SEN.AboutPenstone Farm Learning Centre offers a unique and specialist provision that provides a wide range of inspiring, innovative, and high-quality individualised programmes for learners on the autism spectrum and with other special educational needs.The Learning centre is currently in the process of developing a pupil referral unit for children who are unable to manage in full time mainstream education and offers alternative learning and work experience opportunities within a land based environment.Role PurposeTo oversee the day-to-day management of the centre and to ensure there is personalised support teaching and mentoring for individuals and/or small groups of learners on the autism spectrum and with other special educational needs in horticulture, agriculture and outdoor activities. The person appointed will be required to work as part of a team developing and delivering high quality delivery and content to the learners at the centre.To provide quality assurance and monitoring systems to meet the requirements of our awarding body, NCFE.You will be working with learners who have a range of additional support needs, including special educational needs such as learning disabilities and/or autism. Some learners may have social, emotional, and mental health needs.Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities1) Deliver high quality learning opportunities and associated tutorial duties, to meet the needs of individual learners.2) Deliver effective Schemes of Work, Assessment and Lesson Plans which are flexible and consider the learning needs of individual learners.3) Ensure that all learners undertake highly individualised learning programmes designed to meet their specific needs and aspirations as detailed in their EHCPs.4) Offer extra support for learners on a one to one and group basis.5) Ensure completion of learner ILP’s, in setting long term goals and short-term targets.6) Review learner progress and identify further learning needs.7) Utilise a range of teaching strategies in response to individual learning styles and preferences that will also stretch and challenge learners.8) Positively seek out benchmarks and other measures of success and actively work towards and if possible, exceed individual achievement objectives and success measures9) Maintain accurate records for assessing.10) Conduct moderation and internal verification at key times throughout the year.11) Ensure all assessed and marked work is returned in a timely manner clearly identifying areas for development for individual learners.12) Ensure and maintain an environment of high expectation and engagement, inspiring the learners to achieve the best possible outcomes and always promote an inclusive learning environment for all learners.13) Work collaboratively with curriculum, support workers and specialist teams within the Centre and to actively contribute to learner Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)s14) Complete administration associated with the role, accurately maintaining relevant tracking documentation, and providing reports as required.15) Ensure accurate attendance records with follow up on attendance and punctuality.16) To liaise with parents, carers and guardians and respect and value their views as they are uniquely placed to advise on their young person and are therefore a valuable resource.17) Provide handover information to the staff and carers at supported living on any key events or information from the day at the Centre.18) Operate a healthy and safe working environment in accordance with college policies and procedures.19) Develop business opportunities for the centre through marketing and tendering opportunities.Person SpecificationEssential: English and Mathematics at Grade C/Grade 4 or above (or equivalent qualifications for example functional skills LevelQualified to Level 5 in a relevant subject or hold an equivalent professional qualificationIQA Qualified and a level 5 teaching qualification.Relevant successful teaching experience of teaching young people with SEND.An understanding of and a commitment to Inclusive learning and disability equality or prepared to undertake intensive training at the start of the roleEvidence of recent and up to date continuous professional development. Knowledge of arrangements for safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults or prepared to undertake intensive training at the start of the roleGood oral and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills Good planning and organisation skillsAbility to use IT at a level commensurate with job role.Good analysis, problem solving and decision-making skillsAbility to commit to the Centre values, around embracing diversity and the welfare of learnersAbility to commit to continuous professional development linked to subject specialism.Desirable: Level 5 safeguarding qualificationKnowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies in relation to learners with barriers to learning including emotional and behavioural difficulties and/ or specific learning difficulties or prepared to undertake intensive training at the start of the roleExperience of working with learners with Education, Health and Care Plans to achieve outcomes.Knowledge and experience of strategies for improving learning outcomes for young people and adultsExperience of developing learning resources for a range of topics.Experience of contributing to tenders to expand business opportunities.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: Up to £36,000.00 per yearSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayLicence/Certification:IQA qualification (preferred)
