Are you a qualified English Teacher looking for your next challenge in the area of Highbury & Islington, North London?
Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a English Teacher (with QTS) to join this Secondary Alternative Provision in Islington, North London teaching across KS3 and KS4. The role is a temp – perm arrangement, full time, starting ASAP until July 2022 at least. You will be paid to scale (main pay scale only) on a daily rate and will be paid via weekly timesheets on PAYE.
This Islington school is a Good Ofsted rated school providing for students who have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and who are currently unable to access mainstream education. You will be teaching a class of 5 pupils alongside the support of an excellent Learning Assistant. You will predominately be teaching English (Language and Literature) to prepare their students to sit their GCSE exams and go on to further education or training. The school has a hard working and committed team who are dedicated to raising achievement and ensuring the best possible school experience for pupils. Students usually present with behavioural difficulties, linked to SEBD and or SEMH (social, emotional and behavioural difficulties / mental health needs) and other SEN including Autism and ADHD.
The aim in this Islington school is to support and challenge students within their studies in English by making English lessons relevant, interesting and dynamic. A range of qualifications are on offer in this school to suit different abilities and learning styles, including Edexcel GCSE English / Literature and Pearson Functional Skills Level 1 and 2. The curriculum is robust and ambitious meaning that students are experiencing the full range of topics at this level.
Located by Caledonian Road and Highbury and Islington stations, this school is easily accessible via Victoria and Piccadilly lines, Thameslink, Great Northern and Overground trains.

Essential requirements:
QTS, qualified teacher status.
Experience delivering the UK National Curriculum of English up to GCSE Level (Language and Literature), including Functional Skills.
Experience with challenging behaviour and SEN.
Experience supporting young people with special educational needs, specifically SEMH needs.
Enthusiastic, resilient and positive approach.
Must have legal right to work in the UK.
