Role Purpose
To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission

Main accountabilities
Support British Council’s global English strategy by:
ensuring teaching meets learner needs and expectations
delivering teaching to the highest standards of ELT both online and offline
enhancing the British Council’s reputation as a world authority in ELT
continuing professional development and sharing of best practices
ensuring teaching meets British Council Global Teaching Standards and organisational expectations
ensuring Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is taken into account when planning and delivering lessons and engaging with customers and colleagues
supporting the teaching centre’s activities and British Council plan
ensuring safeguarding and other guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:

Role specific knowledge and experience:
Knowledge:
As appropriate within Global British Council Teaching Standards at a CORE level
Demonstrate subject knowledge
Engage and motivate learners
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
Plan and deliver coherent lessons
Make use of assessment and feedback
Manage teaching and learning resources
Uphold professional responsibilities and values

Experience:
2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience, in an internationally recognised English language teaching institute.
Experience in teaching relevant age groups
Early Years aged 2 to 5 (100+hours)
Primary aged 6 to 10 (100+ hours)
Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (100+ hours)
Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (100+ hours)

(or willingness to acquire experience under supervision as soon as possible)
Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours)

Note : Provident Fund Transfer in and out from EPFO is not possible as BHC PF is managed by a private PF trust governed by Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. The staff still has the option to transfer out and in from a privately held PF trust which are not governed by EPFO.
