Job Description : About the role Here at Ecotricity, the UK’s first true green energy provider, we’re at an interesting crossroads in our journey and are looking to recruit a small, focussed, results driven internal development team to take ownership of our existing 3rd party developed systems.These systems consist of full stack server-less microservices in AWS and servicing customer facing websites, mobile apps, and integration between our internal systems. They’re a great start and have served us well, but we have a big vision and think we can do better.This role will lead a small team, but since you’ll have strong management support there’s flexibility around how experienced a leader of people you are. What is more important is that this role helps us forge our technical strategy, provides technical leadership, and that the successful applicant is hands on in developing.About you You will be an experienced ‘hands on’ full stack developer with a proven track record for problem solving and delivering code on time, but importantly because we’re bringing this in house, we need you to be a person who can step back and look at the strategy, the architecture, and the business objectives and advise those around you. You’ll have an aptitude for line management, but technical excellence is paramount.This is an outward facing role which would suit someone who is happy building relationships and leading from the front. You’ll need to be comfortable working with project managers and product owners, keeping stakeholders and management continually informed, and be able to translate and communicate technical requirements with any audience.What you will do · Lead a small team of full stack engineers· Support and develop microservices and web/mobile systems.· Be responsible for quality, resolving problems and finding solutions.· Identify technical debt, aiming to reduce this at each opportunity.· Contribute/lead organisational awareness of technical best practices.Knowledge and skillsAWS Devops, CodeDeply, Cloudformation, DockerJavascript based languages (preferably Node.js/Angular/React)Strong operational level knowledge of AWS including LinuxMobile app development (any platform, preferably Kotlin/Swift)About the team The Ecotricity Technology department is a small friendly team with a strong focus on getting results, with everyone committed to delivering both individually and as part of the group/project.
