Job Description : The role

Our Veterinary Care Assistants, known as Patient Care Assistants, are an integral part of the team in practice. You will typically be supporting 4-6 practices performing a variety of duties, such as ensuring the practice maintains high clinical standards throughout, maintaining kennels and the general environment following cleaning protocols, feeding animals, animal handling and behaviour, reporting back to and assisting nurses with patient care and preparing medical equipment.

Full time 43 hours
Skills and experience
Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to hold a full UK driving license.

The successful candidate will have plenty of hands-on experience with patients including walking dogs and TLC with cats; any previous experience working within a veterinary practice or rescue centre (voluntary or paid) is advantageous.

We are looking for colleagues who demonstrate commitment and a positive attitude. Enjoy working within busy environments and within a team, however, must show confidence when working alone as and when required; demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to work and happy to get stuck in wherever needed.

Required:

Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs at grade C / 4 or above to include Maths, English Language and a Science and be in possession of examination certificates.

Alternatively, City & Guilds will accept alternative qualifications, e.g. Veterinary Care Assistant Certificate, Animal Nursing Assistant Award or National Diploma in Animal Care – you will still be required to provide proof of GCSE Maths and English and provide the original certificates.

If you have taken your qualifications abroad, we will require a NARIC comparison.

Please upload your certificates (not statements) and list your grades on your CV, including Maths and English. This will ensure a smooth and faster recruitment process.

If you are unable to provide evidence of the entry certificates required, we will not be able to proceed forward with your application at this stage.

Previous work experience within a veterinary practice is desirable (voluntary or paid) along with a willingness to learn; work experience with animals would also be beneficial.
