Salary Package: Level A step 6 (PhD) from $95,706 to $102,570, plus 17% employer’s Superannuation and annual leave loading
Full-time, fixed term for 36 months

THE ROLE
We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral research fellow to assist Professors Richard Han, Annabelle McIver, and James Zheng in the School of Computing at Macquarie University. Professor Han is an expert in mobile computing, drone systems, and wireless sensor networks. Professor McIver is an expert in formal methods and software verification. Professor Zheng is an expert in software engineering, cyber-physical systems, and autonomous systems.
The main objective of this project is to develop innovative research in robust autonomous navigation of drones. The applicant must have demonstrated creative excellence, e.g. publications in top computer science systems conferences (e.g., UbiComp, MobiCom, PerCom), and practical skill in building and evaluating real world software and hardware systems, especially mobile systems such as drones, integrating sensors, and collecting and analyzing data. Expertise in sensor fusion, computer vision and machine learning is highly desirable. You will have completed a Ph.D., or thesis submitted, within a discipline that is relevant to the areas of computer science. We will work closely with an industry partner in this project, so experience in industry or collaborating with industry teams is preferred.

Essential selection criteria
A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline (or thesis submitted)
Demonstrated research excellence in computing as evidenced by ongoing publications in top tier journals and conferences in computer systems, networks, mobile computing, ubiquitous computing, and/or wireless communication
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders
Desirable selection criteria
Expertise in sensor fusion, computer vision and/or machine learning is highly desirable.
Experience in supervision of Ph.D. students
Practical experience equipping and flying drones and collecting and processing their data
