Job Description : An exciting opportunity has arisen for three Band 6 Practice Education Facilitators to join our existing team of OSCE educators to prepare our International Nurses for their NMC part 2 test of competence Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

We are looking for a self-motivated, adaptable and knowledgeable registered nurses to join the team on a 12 month secondment or fixed term contract until the end of March 2023. This opportunity will provide successful applicants with insight into the world of International Recruitment, Nurse Education and insight and post registration education.

The post holder will support the OSCE education team in preparing the International Nurses to take their OSCE examination which is the final of their journey in gainin their UK nurse registration. This will include contributing to the development of OSCE teaching materials, preparing for study days and undertaking assessments within the OSCE teaching environment this will include providing ongoing verbal and written assessment feedback.

The role includes linking with educators who are supporting International Nurses within other organisations as part of the lead recruiter project to aid the transition from OSCE bootcamp into their clinical role within their organisation.

1. To ensure safe and effective clinical/educational practice.

To work within an educational environment, contributing to the design and delivery of the OSCE programme. Supporting and reinforcing the values and standards of compassion and respect in care, demonstrating analysis and decision-making skills, delivering educational sessions to pre-registration students, qualified nurses midwives and allied health professionals, providing a clinically and educationally excellent, high quality service which will influence and facilitate change within the organisation.

Ensure a high standard of care and record keeping in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council, national legislation and local standards.

To work with other departments within the Trust to facilitate learning to support service developments and to support staff in practice who are subject to capability/competence processes.

Demonstrate a specialist level of knowledge, skill and understanding of clinical practice standards within the Trust acting as a resource and role model to colleagues.

Support staff with specialist advice in relation to practice education.

Work alongside clinical staff, promoting best practice, providing support and education, facilitating a learning environment and development of staff to meet local requirements.

Deliver clinical education presentations to large and small groups. Contribute to the design and the delivery of informal and formal teaching programmes.

When delivering training sessions and supporting staff clinically, promote that all staff are aware of and adhere to all relevant Trust policies and procedures as part of educational activity,

Participate in supporting a culture of protecting patients from harm and deprivation of basic rights ensuring a safe and effective service with continuous quality improvement.

Contributes to managing changes and improvement through the use of audit, staff/student feedback and reflection on practice by self and other members of the team.

Promote a clean and safe environment by ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and protocols including health and safety, healthcare associated infection prevention, clinical governance, including risk management and critical incident reporting and root cause analysis.

Participate in the promotion of a high standard of fundamental care and record keeping in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health Professions Council, national legislation and local standards.

To support staff development when standards fall below expected levels.

Report incidents and near misses promptly and appropriately

Critically appraise and synthesise the outcomes of relevant research, evaluations and audits and apply information when seeking to improve practice

2.To enhance the patients experience

Within an educational environment, promote a culture of person-centred care.

Ensure that everyone within the sphere of care is treated with dignity and humanity, understanding individual needs, showing compassion and sensitivity, and provide care in a way that respects all people equally.

3.To manage and develop the performance of the team

Act as a visible positive role model to others setting expected standards of behaviour, contribute to the delivery of high quality person centred care.

Promote staff to take responsibility and accountability for the care they provide, judgements made and actions taken in a way meets the requirements of organisational policies and procedures, professional bodies and the law.

Participate in the appraisal process ensuring that personal development plans are consistent with the teams, departments and organisation’s objectives.

Participate with communication networks within and external to the team

To be aware of Health and Safety regulations within the Trust

Learning and development.

Promote a learning environment conducive for all staff, supporting staff in induction.

Ensure purposeful and effective learning experiences.

Assist with the identification and development of educational programmes and staff development strategies.

Support the learning and development and assessment of all staff including supporting staff to achieve competence, and Revalidation

Participate in the recruitment and selection, process.

Support the overseas recruitment process

4.To ensure effective contribution to the delivery of the organisation’s objectives

Network with peers across professional groups and clinical disciplines promoting the exchange of knowledge, skills and resources.

Act up in the absence of the designated person in charge

Attend professional forums and disseminate information

Maintain comprehensive training records for staff and provide reports as required.

Take an innovative and proactive approach to the redesign of educational services, linked to organisational priorities and in support of improved outcomes

Support the implementation of the Trust nursing strategies

Seek opportunities for personal development supporting the research agenda of the organisation

Maintain a working knowledge of local, national and professional strategy and policy, and the educational agenda.

Demonstrate by self and through team compliance to the pledges of the NHS Constitution 2012
