Job Description : To support the Lead Practice Educator to positively support, influence and improve the quality of the learning environment.

Managed by the Lead Practice Educator, the post-holder will need to work with minimal supervision in contributing to the support of pre-registration learners (Nursing, Nursing Associate, Therapists) in clinical practice. Support will include encouraging creativity in developing learning opportunities, promoting inter-professional working and learning and supporting assessment of learners.

An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Practice Education department for a part time Practice Educator. The focus of the role is placement support, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the support and ongoing development of both students and practice supervisors/assessors (mentors) for all professional groups. The post holder will be expected to organise and run facilitated learning sessions, in conjunction with other Practice Education colleagues, using digital and face to face sessions.

As an autonomous, forward-thinking and innovative clinician, the post holder will be supported to develop their skills through continuing professional development activities. Utilising communication and negotiation skills will be a key part of the role, as the post will involve working with multiple teams and external providers of education programmes, with a strong focus on independently managing challenging situations.

In order to apply, you will need to have a good knowledge of pre-registration healthcare education for nursing, and some knowledge of the apprenticeship agenda, as well as knowledge of the standards for student supervision and assessment (NMC 2018). You should also have sign-off mentor/Practice Assessor status and be able to demonstrate experience and insight into the demands of supporting learners in practice.

To support practice assessors/supervisors (mentors) the post holder will be expected to spend approximately 80% of their time in clinical practice.

Working alongside the Lead Practice Educator they will develop and deliver quality education programmes that reflect NMC and HCPC standards, whilst incorporating national guidance and supporting the Trust’s clinical governance agenda.
